[Question #11523] Am I at risk?

Hello,
I was working in vietnam and visited a massage parlour.
It started with unprotected handjob
Then protected sex that lasted roughly 5 minutes, then couldn’t finish so laid back on bed removed condom and finished with unprotected handjob.
The condom was intact throughout the intercourse
3 days later I started feeling like I was having ARS symptoms, and when I returned to UK I had a HIV1&2 ABS/P24AG, syphilis, chlamydia and ghonereah test at day 15 and and all came back negative. I now know it’s early to test, but is it a good indicator?
Can you please tell me the statistics of potentially contracting HIV.
8 weeks after the exposure I am feeling like I have dull mild aches around my body. Is this a symptom ? Please help me as I am driving myself insane with fear.

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. Given your concerns, let me start with the bottom line- the activities you describe were no risk for acquistion of HIV from the activities you describe. I'll explain below.
1. Most people, including masseuses' do not have HIV.
2. Masturbation, including mutual masturbations when partners get each others' secretions on each other are no risk events. The CDC, the WHO, and experts agree on this
3. Condom protected sex is safe sex when the condom does not break. They are highly effective for preventing HIV and other STIs
4. Your negative test at the time you had symptoms proves that the symptoms were not due to HIV. When symptoms are due to HIV, tests are always positive
If you had asked if you needed testing, I would have said there is no need for testing. Your risk for HIV is virtually zero. Please don't worry. EWH

Thank you so much for the reassurance!
Is it true that from roughly 11 days if you are infected your body will produce P24 protein ? And that would be detected at day 15 ? I know it’s not a specific test it was part of the AG/AB test. I am also a circumsized male. Which I believe lowers the chance of infection also is that correct?
Ever since the exposure, everytime I have a pain somehwere in my body I suspect it’s due to HIV. My skin feels like it’s burning but no rash, do you think that is due to anxiety ?
Thank you for the quick response Doctor!

As you point out, ROUGHLY at 15 days p24 antigen appears. Is not absolute however.
Circumcision reduces the risk of acquistion of HIV by about 50%. For you that is of no consequence since you have no risk for HIV to start with.
Please don't worry. EWH

Thank you for your response.
Sometimes my anxiety and fear make me believe some of the feelings in my body is HIV related. And I find it hard to shift these emotions.
I understand this is my last response and want to thank you for your words. You mention that the risk is virtually zero. Statistically speaking would the chances be less than 1-1000,000 for protected inter course. Being a male and circumcised.
Thank you again

Anxiety and fear sometimes also related to guilt. Once again, I assure you that the adventure described a virtually no risk. The likelihood that you have HIV is certainly less than one 1 million
As you point out above. This will be my last response. The thread will be closed shortly. EWH.
