Dear Dr
I had a exposure with a csw on 10 may 2024 (exposure is only few seconds of recieving blowjob and alot of kissing on the lips) and 1 week after that i had 2 blisters in my mouth. i Dint think much about it but on 25.06.2024 had a casual complete std screening in which IGM was negative but IGG is positive. HSV1 value is 2.63 (reference range is below 0.9 is negative and 0.9-1.1 inconclusive and 1.1 above is positive.) testing method wetern blot
hsv2 value is 1.17  (reference range is below 0.9 is negative and 0.9-1.1 inconclusive and 1.1 above is positive.)
the Dr who reviewed it told me this is not considered positive and only if value is above 3 they consider it positive as alot of factors do intervene in the test. he said if values were higer he would ask me to do pcr and i insisted on PCR  so he did for me but was not in favor for the same. he said this has nothing to do with herpes.
i request you to please give me your kind reviews on the same while i wait for my PCR report. do i have the infection or no and what should be my next step for the same.

I hope the PCR testing was done from the blister.  It should never be done from blood.
You have two low positive results, both should be confirmed by test best test, herpes western blot, done only at the University of Washington, when 12 weeks have passed since this encounter.
BTW, this encounter did not put you at any real risk for HSV 2, but there is some risk of HSV 1
Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip or in you nose/  If yes, then that is why you were positive for HSV 1.

Dear Terri

I have had many past multiple hsv1&2 test they were always negative this is the first time it is positive. Last test was in march 2024. Pcr was a blood test. Also there was a urine test conducted which was negative for hsv 1&2
I have had blister on lip never on nose in past.
In your knowledge and experience am i positive for hsv 1 and2
I will repeat the tests again at 12 weeks but is a 6 week test not conclusive.

Too bad anyone would run the very expensive and unnecessary PCR from blood - PCR is to be used from a lesion swab, never blood
So yes, you've had a blister on your lip but never in your nose, is that right?  If yes, then that is why you have a positive HSV 1.  Your HSV 2 positive may well be a false positive
Six weeks is not conclusive, no.
