[Question #11530] HIV Risk
|
Hello..I recently went to get a haircut and the barber accidentally nicked a mole or my neck with the electrical razor. It bled a little. Do I need testing for HIV or hepatitis and/or do I have anything to worry about?
Thank you

Welcome back to the forum. Thank you for your continued confidence in our services. I was logged in when your question came in -- most users should not expect nearly real-time replies!
Nobody in the world has ever been known to acquire HIV from a cosmetic injury -- in a barber shop, from a manicure, or related activities. The chance the razor was contaminated with HIV or one of the hepatitis viruses probably is zero; and even if contaminated, there would have been little or nor risk of transmission. You really needn't be at all worried and should not be tested for anything on account of this event.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thank you…I’ve come accept the fact that as long as an individual practices safe sex and does not share drug equipment..HIV infection will simply be avoided. Regardless of barbers, accidents or any other every day type of event..

Of course. No testing for hep C. Do you imagine there's anyone in the world who could have caught it from an event like this? I don't.---
