[Question #11579] Am I at risk

Hello - I (male) stepped out on my wife in December 2023. I had oral sex with a sex worker (trans woman) and heaving petting and grinding (she rubbed her penis against my anus- no dipping I think). I also rubbed mine I immediately got PEP. Now in July my hiv tests are negative
However my wife has been having flu like illness and oral thrush. I remembered that I had sex with her on day 10 and 23 while I was still on PEP. My questions:
1. Could this be early hiv symptoms she is showing?
2. Could I have infected her when we had sex while I was on PEP?
3. Could ARS symptoms show up months after unprotected sex?
4. I thought i read that it is virtually impossible to transmit HIV while taking PEP because the PEP will keep the virus at low levels. Is this not true?

welcome to the Forum. It is not clear to me whether or not you received oral sex or performed it. If you received oral sex this was an entirely safe encounter. If you were the person who performed oral sex, IF your partner had untreated HIV (this is statistically unlikely) your risk would be less than 1 in 10,000.. Your taking PEP reduces risk for HIV even more
In regard to your specific questions:
1. Could this be early hiv symptoms she is showing?
This is most unlikely. It is a coincidence
2. Could I have infected her when we had sex while I was on PEP?
No
3. Could ARS symptoms show up months after unprotected sex?
No
4. I thought i read that it is virtually impossible to transmit HIV while taking PEP because the PEP will keep the virus at low levels. Is this not true?
PEP prevents HIV. People taking PEP do not transmit infection to others
Please don't worry. EWH
