[Question #11587] Handjob with Saliva

Hello Dr.
It’s been a year but I find myself back with another stress inducing scenario.

I went into a VIP room at a strip club and received a handjob in Atlanta from a dancer. She pulled out my penis and proceeded to spit on the tip of it. Alarmed, I asked her to stop and wiped it off about 10 seconds after she had spit.

During this time, she also gently touched herself and I also touched her vaginal area as well with no penetration.

After touching herself she gave me a handjob for about 5-10 minutes. While doing so she also lightly pecked/kissed me on the cheeks.

Eventually I released and she used the same napkin the saliva was wiped with to clean me and left it on my penis so I could walk out without having a wet mark.

My hands touched her vaginal areas and in between her but cheeks. Her hands touched her vaginal areas then my penis. Saliva was involved briefly at the beginning bride being wiped away.

Am I at any risk whatsoever? This would be for everything from HIV to HPV to herpes and etc.

Do I need to monitor or concern myself with any type of testing?

Is it true across all medical studies and leading experts in STD’s that saliva applied as lubricant and someone touching themself in their genital area before touching you is a zero risk for HIV and other STI’s?

Thank you!

Welcome back to the Forum.  On this occasion I'll be answering your questions.  The short answer is that the activities that you describe were no risk events.  The fact is that STIs, including HIV and herpes are not transmitted by non-penetrative contact with saliva or genital secretions.  Thus when saliva us used as lubrication for masturbation or when genital secretions are on someone's hands and then transferred to another person, there is no risk at all for infection.  Similarly, that your hands touched her genital area or buttocks does not put you at risk for infection.

While I've provided the essential answer above, let me strengthen that answer by pointing out that most commercial sex workers do not have STIs (they tend to be cautious- STIs are bad for business) and even when are partners infected, even most single unprotected genital exposures do not result in infection.

You have nothing to worry about.  There is no medical or scientific reason for testing.  I hope you find this information reassuring.  EWH

Hi Dr. Hook,

Thank you for the very detailed and quick response.

In short, since there was no penetration or oral involved, there is no concern to be had and I should completely disregard the encounter.

This would also hold true if the dancer were in fact positive with HIV for example and the saliva having made contact with my penile opening.

Thank!
Sincerely DB

Correct, even if the dancer was HIV positive this would still be an absolutely no risk encounter in every way. No need for concern, no need for testing. EWH---
