[Question #11590] Hiv ars symptoms

Hello im a female, i have been having vaginal unprotected sex with a men of unknown status, with a very promiscuos past for the last two months, and three weeks ago sore throat started, the next week i had vaginal trush, and the next week i had an outbreak of very itchy hives that come and go and lasted for a week, so im starting to get worried that symptoms are ars, what do you think about the sypmtoms? and do you think my situation requires testing?

The symptoms you describe do not necessarily suggest HIV.  When persons have the classical ARS, symptoms tend to all occur at the same time and thrush is not necessarily a sign of recently acquired HIV.

If your partner has other partners, it may be in your best interest to be tested, not just for HIV but for the fa more common STIs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomonas.  Even better would be if you could get him to be tested at the same time you get tested.  If his tests are negative, then there is no risk to you.
