[Question #11598] Quick clarification for Dr Hook on question 5260

Hi Dr.
Hope you’re well.
Before posting my question, I was looking if it was already answered but I didn’t really understand the meaning of the answer so just wanted a clarification, for peace of mind.
My questions is in reference with question #5260 you answered a long time ago, the person asked if taking creatine would affect his HIV test, you answered ‘’ Nothing other than medications designs to treat or prevent HIV would affect your HIV test, including creatine. ‘’
Since English is not my first language I just wanted to confirm that taking creatine doesnt have any affect on an HIV test
Thanks and have a great day.

Thanks for your questions. Let me be clear- an elevated creatinine level would have not effect on the reliability of HIV test results. EWH---

Thanks for your answer Dr but I think you misunderstood my question.
I was talking about creatine the food supplement, used for muscle gains.
In your answer to the person mentionned (question 5260) you wrote ‘’ Nothing other than medications designs to treat or prevent HIV would affect your HIV test, including creatine. ‘’
Since I didn’t really understand the meaning of your answer that I quoted above, I just wanted to confirm that taking creatine (food supplement) doesnt have any affect on an HIV test.
Thanks in advance !

Hi Doctor
Just wanted to follow up on my reply to your answer, maybe I replied too fast you didn't see it yet. Can you have a look at my reply to your answer.
Trying to clear my mind on this and move on.
Thanks in advance.

Please be patient, replies may take several hours. The site is not staffed 24/7.
Thanks for the clarification. Taking dietary creatine supplements would not change the reliability of tests for HIV in any way. I would encourage you to not worry and move forward without concern. EWH

Thanks for the reply, DR Hook.
I will use my last reply for a last question:
I just wanted to confirm that taking dietary creatine supplements would not change the reliability of these tests as well: Chlamydia(urine), Gonorrhea(urine), Hep c, Hep b and syphilis test ?
Thanks for all you do and take care.

This is a repetitive question. Repeating the question is NOT going to change the answer.
As I said above- "Taking dietary creatine supplements would not change the reliability of tests for HIV in any way. I would encourage you to not worry and move forward without concern. " The same is true for other STIs, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis, and syphilis.
Take care. Please don't worry. This completes this thread. EWH
