[Question #11616] Sorry to be back- question about thrush

Hi Doctors, I am sorry to be back so soon. I know the doctors said that it is impossible to transmit HIV while taking PEP. However, I have a question about thrush that I can’t find the answer to.
9 days after I had sex with my partner (ie. 21 days into my PEP treatment). She developed white thrush on her tongue. This was her only symptom. She seen a virtual doctor in March (so the thrush was there from December 3-March 10), who prescribed anti fungal medication, which worked. The thrush came back a month later, but disappeared on its own. Now her tongue has an orange/yellowish tinge where the thrush was. My questions are:
1. Would thrush be the only ARS symptom?
2. Would thrush appear just 9 days after exposure/infection?
3. Is the orange/yellow description consistent with HIV Thrush?
4. Is it possible for the virus to spike in my system at day 21 of PEP, then completely disappear, leaving me hiv negative?
5. Also, I was test RNA at day 10 of my PEP treatment and it came back undetectable. Is it likely that it stayed undetectable on day 21 of my PEP regimenwhen I had unprotected sex with my partner?

I'm sorry but these are repetitive questiions that have been answered in your two previous discussions with Dr. Hook, or at least the answers are obvious from those discussions.
HHH, MD
1. Would thrush be the only ARS symptom? No.
2. Would thrush appear just 9 days after exposure/infection? I suppose it could, but rarely. Thrush rarely occurs with initial HIV infection.
3. Is the orange/yellow description consistent with HIV Thrush? No, but I can't say anything about the accuracy of the thrush diagnosis.
4. Is it possible for the virus to spike in my system at day 21 of PEP, then completely disappear, leaving me hiv negative? No; this is impossible.
5. Also, I was test RNA at day 10 of my PEP treatment and it came back undetectable. Is it likely that it stayed undetectable on day 21 of my PEP regimenwhen I had unprotected sex with my partner? Yes, it stayed undetectable and it is impossible for you to infect your partner with HIV.
The doctor who prescribed PEP should be your source of information about these events and your PEP treatment. There will be no further discussion here. Repeat questions are not permitted, especially when anxiety driven and when previous advice has been ignored. This being your third, it must be your last. Any future questions on these issues will be deleted without even this much reply, and without refund of the post fee. Thank you for your understanding.
