[Question #11650] Sorry to be back asking again

Hi doctors I was still very worried about this as I seriously try to rethink and think to myself if I had been penetrated it’s really disturbing me now. I have realised I have a rash on the side of my feet. Also I have very itchy skin at the top of my feet and also around my ankles I’m getting so worried about this I just wanted to know if that could be a sign of something to worry about. I have also gone back to having unprotected sex with wife but this has really been playing on my mind since I woke up this morning. I also got tested yesterday for the second time with hiv pcr qualitative test it came back negative what are the chances of being hiv positive with a negative test I’m so distraught at the moment and really need to put a closure to this.

With apology, there is nothing more this forum can do for you. It is not our responsibility to resolve your completely irrational fears. All we and do is provide reasoned, science-based facts and probabilities, and our clinical judgment as experts with several decades of experience. There are many possible causes of the symptoms you describe, and both the zero risk of the massage and your negative HIV test results prove HIV is not the cause.
---
I'm glad you have resumed sex with your wife: that's a good sign. But if your fears about this continue, all I can advise is professional mental health care to deal both with your unreasonable fears and the underlying psychological issues -- such as conflicts about sex -- that undoubtedly are contributing to your fears. In the meantime, I suggest you re-read your previous thread, concentrating on every word of my replies.
Maybe it also will help you to know that in the 20 years of this forum and our preceding one at MedHelp, with thousands of questions from people worried about HIV, not one has ever reported they eventually tested positive. You will not be the first. If and when it finally happens, it will be from a genuinely high risk exposure, and will not involve falsely negative HIV test results.
Please note the forum policy against repeated anxiety-driven questions; any further questions about your massage and your concerns about HIV and STDs as a result will not receive even this much reply, but will be deleted without comment (and without refund of the posting fee). Thank you for your understanding.

Honestly I can’t thank this service enough. By reading your comments daily it has helped my anxiety subside. I am very grateful for all you do. I just wanted to ask you a final question I took 2 test one on 10 day post exposure and one 16/17 post exposure which were both hiv pcr qualitative tests mainly looking for hiv 1 I assume but what about the hiv 2 part of the test just a little curious about this then I can finally stop thinking about it altogether. Also would you say a hiv pcr qualitative test at 10 and 16 days post exposure and a hiv ab/ag test at 21 days post exposure that all came back negative would be full proof of not being infected Evan if penetration occurred? Or would that be to early to tell my final questions all my anxiety has gone away now and I just had to get your experts advise on this and move on from this. Thank you very much

Yes: with those test results you "can finally stop thinking about it altogether." And yes, I also agree with "...a hiv pcr qualitative test at 10 and 16 days post exposure and a hiv ab/ag test at 21 days post exposure that all came back negative would be full proof of not being infected Evan if penetration occurred?"---

ARS does not cause such a rash. See a doctor to learn the cause, but ARS would NEVER have rash as the only or main symptoms. And it is not possible to have negative HIV test results in the presence of HIV symptoms.

It is not normal (mentally) to remain "in a very dark place" in the face of the reasoned, science based advice you have had. It suggests a potentially serious mental health disorder -- perhaps related to sex and sexuality. It is equally abnormal to suspect or fear anal penetration when it obviously did not take place. It is unlikely you will "snap out of it"; that rarely happens. You need professional counseling. I suggest it from compassion, not criticism.
The forum does not permit repeated questions on the same topic or exposure. This being your second about these fears, it must be your last. Future questions on these topics and your inflated fears will receive no reply and the posting fee will not be refunded. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is intended to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers. In addition, experience shows that continued answers tend to prolong users' anxieties rather than reducing them. Finally, such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. Thanks for your understanding.
I do hope the two discussions are a little bit helpful. Best wishes and stay safe.
