First, this will be my last question on this matter, thank you for your help. As in previous questions I had a positive hep c test. The NAT showed hep c virus level <not detected and <1.18 Hep c Virus level not detected. I have never had a gay encounter, no one has ever penetrated my anus except a doctor with a finger. I have had no contact with blood. The last intercourse out of my marriage was in 2016 and that was vaginal/ oral. I was checked when that ended and was clear. I know based on your experience and knowledge none of the exposures I asked about were at risk for hep c or any other std. Please tell me I can put my mind at ease with this and not do any other testing for hep c. Myself, I believe it is a greater chance for a false positive than not based on what you said and what I have read, from respected medical sites. Please help me and I won't ask again. I will contribute 25 a month for the cause lol . Thank you...I also talked to a Doctor friend of mine and he said put it behind me and don't worry like you did. I also will never take one of those check every thing test again based on what you said. Thank you

Welcome back to the Forum although I’m sorry you felt the need. I have nothing to add to Dr. Handsfield’s earlier reply. Al tests for antibodies occasionally give false positive results. Standard practice with positive antibody tests is to do a 2nd unrelated test. When infection is present, both tests are positive. You had the bad luck to have a falsely positive hepatitis C antibody test which was then proven to be incorrect with a NAAT test which was negative. You don’t need further testing. You need to calm yourself and move forward without concern. EWH---
