[Question #11688] STD Result Concerns

Im a 25 year old male and had done some STD blood draw for HIV, RPR, HBV, and HCV. They all came out negative. My last exposure was around a year ago. But a day prior to the STD testing I had done a CT scan and they injected Iodine for contrast or Iodine Contrast Media. I also got blood taken from my left arm for the STD because they injected the ICM into my right arm. I don’t know if that matters or not.
1.My question is if that would have gave me false negatives? If so, should I get another STD test taken?
2. I also had taken a urine std test for chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Mycoplasma genitalium and hominid, and Ureaplasma spp but I didn’t wait the hour before urinating inside the cup. It was probably 10 minutes of me holding it in and the results came back negative. I took another test to be sure and waited two hours before and everything came back negative except ureplasma spp. Should I trust this result? Also what does the positive ureplasma spp mean and what should I do?

Welcome to our forum. Thank you for your question and for your confidence in our service. I’ll be glad to come. Straight to your questions.
1. The contrast media used for your TCT scan will have no effect whatsoever on either your blood tests or your urine tests. Your results will be entirely reliable.
2. Your urine test results are likewise reliable and can be believed. Ureaplasma is a bacteria normally found in the genital tract and is not a cause of STI. There is no need for treatment of ureaplasma found in your specimens.
I hope that the information I have provided is helpful. You can believe your results. There is no need for additional testing. EWH.

- 1. I was in a current relationship when I had the exposure with another female. if I contracted ureaplasma from the exposure (female) and exposed it to my partner (female). Could it be the infection never cleared up because I kept having sexual intercourse with my partner and never treated it with antibiotics.
- 2. I also read that Ureaplasma could also mean HPV infection. Is that true? I have no warts or anything but I heard high risk HPV doesn’t cause warts or lesions. As I’m a male how could I find out if I have HPV?

Also to add
- 3. Me and my partner are suffering from hair loss or hair shedding and lower back pain from time to time. I’m also suffering from ED. Is there any STD that would cause these problems? Like ureaplasma? I also haven’t tested for trichomoniasis.

1. As I said above, Ureaplasma in normally found in the genital tract. It is NOT an STI and does not need to be treated. You and both of your partners are likely to have Ureaplasma in your genital tracts normally
2. There is no relationship between Ureaplasma and HPV. They are entirely unrelated.
3, Please forget about Ureaplasma. There is no reason to think that an STI acquired from the encounter you described is causing your occasional back pain, ED or hair loss
I sense that you may have been looking for answers on the internet. If that is the source of the incorrect statements you made above, please stop searching the internet. It will mislead you much of the time. EWH

This is my last question, since I tested negative for HIV, Hep B and C, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Mycoplasma and I’m sure I don’t have any herpes or visible HPV. Is there any other STD I should test for or I’m a clear. Thank you for the help Doc.
