Hi doctor

4 days before i had unprotected oral sex around 5 mins with a street sex worker, only i was recieving blowjob and no other type of sex was involved, when googled i found some sti list i am really worried could you please tell me which sti i should check…in google i saw

1. Hiv

2. Syphilis

3. Hsv1 / 2

4 hpv

5 gonorrhea

6 chlamydia

Since now im in oman i cannot test for syphilis and hiv as they would deport me if im positive.

Doctor will these sti be infected i have high anxiety on hiv and syphilis.

Also i have tingling sensation like feeling to urinate frequently on tip of penis started on next day of exposure and while urinating only little urine goes is this any symptom of sti?? There is no pain.

Doctor i read hiv does not pass through oral sex but will there be coinfection with other sti?

Doctor should i be worried about syphilis?

I dont have option for testing here.

Also i read if there is syphilis sore in mouth it can pass through oral sex.

Also i do not have any sore or cut on my penis at the time of exposure and i dont know if she had any sore or cut inside her mouth but i saw something red like pimple on her chin near to mouth.

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment, GOOGLE has misled you here. No one has ever acquired HIV from receipt of oral sex and HPV, syphilis and herpes all all unusual and inconsistent with your symptoms. Chlamydial is also very rare. Gonorrhea is a possibility as is a problem called non-chlamydial non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) which results from the introduction of an oral sex partner's throat bacteria into the penis.

Tingling and frequent urination are more typically related to anxiety and the tendency to become aware of normal sensations which we all experience and ignore without even knowing it unless we are looking for signs of an infection.

I would have no concerns about HIV, syphilis or herpes unless other signs of infection develop.

I would encourage you to pursue testing for gonorrhea and possibly other STIs becasue I anticipate that the tests will show that you were not infected. EWH

1. I am confused doctor i will remove hiv, hpv chlamydia from my list and forget about that.

2. Regarding gonorrhea i coudnt find any labs that test for gonorrhea here what are the symptoms i should look for and till how many days today its 4th day.

3. Herpes 1 and 2 should i look for any symptoms or test is it really possible to get? What are the symptoms i should look for?

4. I am really really worried about syphilis doctor could you please explain to me about syphilis transmission in my case, i cannot test syphilis here in oman i will loose my job, are there any recorded case of transmission in your experience like my case? Should i look for any symptoms in syphilis? Why do you say its unusual doctor also doctor does it spread if there is any sore in mouth?

Till how many days should i look for symptoms doctor?

Doctor if you are in my situation will you test and wait doctor?

Doctor can i have sex with my wife and move on with my life from now onwards.

Its 4th day and till today no sores and tingling sensation i think its due to anxiety in the morning i dont have any tingling and frequent urination urge

Also doctor in cdc website i found that they mentioned oral sex for syphilis as a mode of transmission.

And if there is any present mouth sore from syphilis it can spread. Will it happen in my situation

Can i take antibiotic for syphilis now its only 4 days after sex will there be any health issues if i take antibiotic orally also if i take now will it cure syphilis if i acquired also my vdrl test in future it will be negative right

1. Good idea

2. Over 90% of persons with gonorrhea have a purulent penile discharge

3. If you acquired herpes you would get sores on your penis within 10 days of your exposure- this is very unlikely

4. Syphilis is very rare, particularly in Oman. On average a syphilis sore would appear within 21 days of exposure. I would not be worried about syphilis

If I were in your situation I would test and wait. I would not hesitate to have unprotected sex with your wife. I would not take antibiotics but if you did take penicillin or doxycycline at this time it would likely prevent syphilis. AS I said, I would not be worried,. EWH

Thanks doctor so from your last reply you said if you were me you would test and wait which test doctor? Is it for gonorrhea or any other?

1 week before exposure i did test for hiv, syphilis, all three types of hepatitis all were negative then after 1 week this happens

So which sti tests should i take doctor??

And doctor suppose she had syphilis what are the chances of me getting syphilis from this exposure of recieving blowjob for 5 mins?

Final answer.

Once again, I would not worry about syphilis. It is rare and particularly rarely acquired by receiving oral sex.

I would wait and test only for Gonorrhea

i did not understand last part doctor unless other sign of infection develop. other signs for which sti doctor?

also doctor one one of my friend here had syphilis and got his visa cancelled dont know from where he got that is why i was so afraid of syphilis.

The thread should have already been closed. It will be closed immediately after this reply and you should not return to the form with further questions I cannot comment on your friend- syphilis, like most STIs is rarely acquired from receipt of oral sex. As I've already told you, the most common infection acquired from oral sex is gonorrhea and if you are going to test that is the most important STI to check for. HIV is virtaually never acquired from receipt of oral sex. Herpes, like syphilis is very rare.

Gonorrhea symptoms typically occur within 3-5 days of exposure
