[Question #11720] Itchy and red bumps

Hello Dr
This is probably my last question in this forum.
Again, unfortunately, the evil addiction is still here in my head. I saw the escort again. I later noticed she recently shaved and she had many noticable red bumps all around her vagina pubic hair. She said that was from shaving. It looks like her pores were open and it looks like the bumps are formulation of blood, they were so red. As I was having sex with her, my genital area was very itchy as she pressed herself on me. I believe it was her little ingrown hair piercing my genitals.
I know you told me that no STI can cause itchness previously but I what concerns me is the fresh red bumbs on her can help transmit herpes or other STI from her previous customers to me. Are there any chances STI can be transmitted like that?
Can this also be non-STI infection?
Thanks,
I really hate myself, doing these habits and asking many questions!!

Welcome back to the Forum. This is your firth question in the past 3 months, all of which involve low risk encounters. By chance alone, this is our first interaction. I reviewed your earlier interactions with Dr. Handsfield and agree with all that he said and support his statement that you need to not be returning following each low risk encounter. The tempo and having look at your other 4 posts suggests to me that you need to figure out a way to address the guilt and anxiety that you seem to have following sexual activity with casual partners (your reference in your question to your "evil addiction" is telling). If you cannot do this yourself, I would suggest doing so with a confidential, trained counselor. I say this out of concern for you, nothing more- I suspect you are paying a mental health price for your unresolved guilt and anxiety.
Regarding the bumps in the pubic region of your recent partner, such lesions are common following shaving of pubic hair. The shaving opens up pores, allowing non-transmissible infection of hair follicles (the place the hairs grow out of) with normal skin bacteria. It is not uncommon and cannot be transmitted to your. As Dr. Handsfield has informed you, any itching you have experienced is not an STI and reflects your focus on looking for symptoms.

Thanks for the concern but I believe you did not answer my question entirely. I asked about non-Sti infections from those itchy bumps because it was very piercing and if those bumbs help enhance herpes transmission as well.

Perhaps you missed it. In my original reply, I stated that the folliculitis which arises from shaving is non-infectious (2nd sentence, 2nd paragraph). If herpes were an exception, I would’ve said that. The “ piercing.” You mentioned in no way changes that.
Since I’m being repetitive, I will also repeat my suggestion that you would benefit from counseling, addressing your concerns regarding sex and the risk of STO. EWH

Nearly a quarter of syphilis cases in the U.S. were being diagnosed in women in 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported
Hello doc, I know you are one of the best STI expert in the world. But in my previous question of condom slippage with an escort, dr. HHH said syphilis transmission is quite low in escorts without providing detail explanation. Do she need to have the lesion for her to transmit the infection during the slippage OR syphilis can be transmitted without the lesion?
I just need to know about this subject for future reference.

Syphilis is transmitted only through direct contact with an infectious lesion. No lesion, no transmission.
Dr. Handsfield’s comment was based on:
A. Syphilis rates in women are half the rate seen in mem
B. Because of their profession, commercial sex workers tend to get checked regularly
As you know, this 3rd response completes this thread which will be closed shortly. Take care, EWH
