[Question #11756] Cunnilingus

Hello i never thought i would be back but here i am Yestarday i was stupid and performed Oral on a Sex Worker Anallingus and cunnilingus, She says she got tested 3 weeks ago, Not sure if she is lying i live in Arizona and syphillis is really high here.
1. What are chances i got syphillis from giving her oral no visible lessions but worried she had some inside her vagina or rectum , How common do you guys see Syphillis infections in mouth due to giving woman oral what are the odds is the tongue or lips chancres common?
2. What are odds i got Gonorrhea or chlamydia? My tongue was inside both her vagina and Anal, Is it a high chance ? I know gonorrhea is in body fluids so im assuming those fluids could reach my throat and infect it if i swallowed or any or it touched my throat ?
3. My genitals never touched her genitals, I did finger her vagina what are odds her fluid carries HSV-2 if she has it and passed it to me when i used that same finger to touch my penis shortly after ? Also what are the odds i got HSV-2 on my mouth From giving her oral ?
Im a bit confused some of your guys replies say Cunnilingus is very rare way to get STDs or STIs but theres tons of people on reddit who say they have got infected by cunnilingus. Also some of your guys replys say HIV has never been documented from cunnilingus. But other replies say that there has been only a few reported cases from cunnilingus. Which one is it ?
Last Question should i test or would i be safe to have sex with my regular partner without the fear of any throat infections passing to them by kissing or giving them oral.

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for the questions. I'll be glad to comment. Acquistion of any STI through cunnilingus is so rare as to be a curiosity. If that is your only exposure, I would not be worried in the least. Further, I should add that as a generalizable fact- most CSWs do not have STIs and that most single exposures of any sort do not result in infection. Of all possible exposures to infected partners, cunnilingus is least likely to result in infection. With that, I'll address your questions
1. The risk of syphilis is far, far less than zero and the risk of acquiring any STI is substantially less than 1%- in other words here is a greater than 99% chance that you were not infected in the encounter you describe.
2. See above. If you feel the need to be tested, the main STI I would tesd for is gonorrhea with the throat swab.
3. Virtually zero. STIs are not transmitted through masturbation (receiving or giving). That your genital touched hers is a no risk situation.
Reddit, like so much of what is found on the internet is NOT a reliable source of information. We spend a lot of our time trying to correct misinformation spread on Reddit and other internet sources.
If I were in your situation, I would not hesitate to have unprotected sex with your regular partner.
Hope this helps. EWH

Thanks for the reply,
However when you say there is 99.9% chance percent i didnt get syphillis why is that ? If she had a chancre inside her vagina or anus that cant be seen and my tongue going inside and licking wouldnt that be a risk ? Im in Arizona where syphillis rates are out of the roof.
As far as Gonnorhea ? How often do you see patients that been infected in there throat due to cunnilingus, Is it very common ? I know my tongue does not reach her cervix but wouldnt vaginal fluid alone carry the bacteria and cause infection if it touched my throat ?
I think you misunderstood there was no masturbation, I gave her oral and fingered her vagina and realized i touched my penis and i rubbed on it while i had her vagina fluid all over my finger. Could that have transfered HSV-2 if she has the virus?
Is testing necessary or is there a good chance i am okay ?

Sigh. You are over reacting. If you think my assessment is wrong, feel free. You ask for expert opinion and you got it. If you choose to believe the internet, that’s up to you.

Throat infections due to cunnilingus are extraordinarily rare.
I understood the nature of your exposure. The likelihood you acquired herpes from these activities is virtually zero.
. I see little advantage for you to test, oth than to address your obvious anxiety

I never said i dont believe i really do your the expert not me i just wanted explanation on the 99% chance i didnt get syphillis, Like i stated there was no visible lessions but i did insert my tongue inside vagina and anus, Couldnt there be a chance a lession was inside not visible and touched my tongue and infected me ? Or is this not the way the infection spreads ? How often have you seen syphillis happen due to cunnilingus ?
Have you ever done a study of Gonorrhea and chlamydia throat infections due to cunnilingus ? If so what did you see is common? What are the odds of it happening ?
I do believe you and ur expertise i just wanted clarification. If you where in my position would you worry and test ? Or would you continue to have unprotected oral and sex to regular partner without worry of infecting them ?

I don’t think you appreciate how rare syphilis is. In the U.S. the rate in the population is less than 2 infection in every 10,000 people and about 60% of those infections are among men who have sex with men. Syphilis is rare in women. Thus the chance that your partner has syphilis is very low.
Then, syphilis is transmitted only through DIRECT contact with an infectious lesion of which you saw none. Sure there’s a chance that she had an internal lesion but that chance low. While theoretically possible, neither of us has seen or heard of syphilis acquired through cunnilingus in our combined more than 80 years of sexual health focused practice. You are not going to be the first.
While somewhat more common than syphilis acquisition of Gonorrhea and/or chlamydia from cunnilingus is too rare to practically study.
HIV is not a realistic concern either, both mechanistically and statistically.
Testing is a personal choice. Given your apparent high level of anxiety, testing is reasonable for the reassurance it will provide. A throat swab for Gonorrhea and chlamydia will be conclusive any time more than 3-4 days after your exposure. Testing for syphilis and HIV would not be conclusive until 6 weeks. I am confident that if you pursue testing the results will be negative.
We provide up to three responses for each question. This is my 3rd response so the thread will now be closed without further replies. EWH
