[Question #11763] Safe to take this much STD Antibiotics?

Last question thread here I hope...
To recap my last submission:
- I'm a male
- 4 days ago, I had protected sex with a female massage worker (vaginal & oral using a condom with no confirmed break)
- Location was at a massage parlor in Las Vegas
- I started a 7 day DoxyPep cycle (14 100MG capsules) and a single dose of Azithromycin within 18 hours of the encounter
Dr. Hook mentioned that I have nothing to worry about, however, my worrying took over. Not sure if anxiety is fabricating symptoms, or if it is due to the Doxy cycle I'm on, but I felt the most slightest of groin pain and just an acidic kind of feeling down there. It doesn't burn when I urinate but maybe the slightest of pain in my groin/perineum (taint/gooch area). It's very dull but I didn't want to ignore it... so my overactive mind began to think that doxyPep was least effective against Gonorrhea, and Gonorrhea has high transmission rates, so maybe I need to take Cefixime.

So I got another prescription of a 400MG single does of Cefixime, but have not taken it yet
My question: How soon can I resume unprotected sex after taking the single dose Cefixime?
My question: How soon can I resume unprotected sex after taking the single dose Cefixime?
My concern: Is the combination of Doxycycline + Azithromycin + Cefixime an overkill on my gut?
My dilemma: I'm taking as much precautions as I can to give myself as close to 100% as possible chance to not pass it to my long-term spouse. I've made this one-time mistake, vowed to never do it again, and want to just move on.
Weighing out the risks vs reward here...

This is a repetitive, anxiety driven question. My relies will add little to the replies I have already provided when I told you that the exposure you had carried little or no risk for STI, particularly after taking doxy PEP. (actually taking doses of antibiotic far exceeded what is recommended as Doxy-PEP) I urged you to move forward with your life and stated there was little scientific need for testing or to abstain from unprotected sex with your regular partner but here yo are again. My answers regarding your risk and need to abstain remain the same.
The groin pain and "acidic feeling" you mention are not suggestive of ANY STI. Doxycycline can certainly cause GI upset resembling heartburn of that is what you are experiencing. There is NO indication for you to take cefixime and doing so to treat your anxiety only increases your risk for side effects.
I've already told you you could resume unprotected sex with your regular partner. That answer is not going to change.
Yes, the doxycycline plus azithromycin is sufficient to cause GI upset, adding cefixime to the mix on unnecessary medications you have already taken will only increase any tendency towards side effects.
You need to move on. EWH

I apologize for the frustration that a redundant anxiety-driven question may cause... I'll do my best to explain my reasoning.
Taking Cefixime was to give me peace of mind, but just wanted to know how safe it was considering the other antibiotics that I am (doxy) and have taken (azithromycin) over the past 4 days. I was intending on waiting until the 2-3 week testing window after taking Cefixime.
The minor discomfort in my urethral tract in the perineum area is triggering my concern (I do not have heartburn). Temporary GI discomfort and minor side-effects would be worth the peace of mind for me. I don't feel any side effects listed on my prescription (nausea, diarrhea, etc) outside of a slight headache here and there. But if it is dangerous in anyway, then of course I would hold off.
On a side note... I keep seeing that doxy and/or azithromycin has developed resistance or not as effective for Gonorrhea treatment.
Again, I really do apologize for an anxiety-driven question.

My response last week may have been left alone due to its repetitiveness, so I will make sure that this follow-up is different.
It has now been 6 days since taking my last dose of antibiotics and I’m wondering if what I’m experiencing are residual side effects from them. There were a few days while taking both the Cefixime and Doxy with dairy that I had diarrhea and indigestion (my stomach sounded like a thunderstorm all day).
I still have, for lack of a better term, a warm acidic feeling both when I pee and in my groin/anal region…with some post-urination dribble (I’m 34)
It doesn’t hurt or burn bad, I have no visible sores, and I don’t have discharge, and it has been 13 days since my protected CSW encounter, so I’m going to assume that I’m clear of STDs and do not need testing.
My question is..
1. Could the slight burn and warm acidic feeling around my groin/anus be due to the antibiotics that I’ve taken? Despite it being 6 days since my last dose and my stool returning to normal 5 days ago?
Wondering if what I’m feeling is a result of the overkill of antibiotic use or an unrelated issue.

Sorry I did not respond to your follow-up question. I read it as more of a comment than a question.
The slight burn you feel in the groin might reflect a fungal infection ("jock itch") related to the antibiotics you took. It does not sound like an STI,
Is the acidic feeling in your stomach or your groin? If in the stomach it may be due to residual antibiotic effect. If in the groin I really don't know what to make of it although it certainly does not sound like an STI. EWH
