[Question #11781] UTI? not sure

hi doc,
I have this strange symptom. Once every 6 months or so, I will get a greenish and blackish yellow urine when I initially urinate (an initial discharge), and then its normal yellow color. And then I never see this abnormal color for like another 6 months to a year. I bought this up with my doc(s) every time this has occurred but they dont seem to know why it occurs or what it is. They didnt think its anything serious. They asked me to do a urinalysis and it always comes out clear, free of any disease. The problem is that it's hard to replicate the event. As I said, it only happens occassionally, so not surprised that it comes out clear. i have no fever, no burning sensation, no smell etc that one would normally associate with an STI. I do have a testicular cyst and I wonder if that could cause this but the docs dont think so.
My issue is that I enjoy getting fellatio with no condom. but obviously I dont want to give any potential STI to anyone and I have run of out ideas or leads as to the cause. I was wondering if you folks would have any suggestions.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services.
Honestly, I've never heard of symptoms like these -- certainly nothing from any patients I have cared for over the years, or on this forum. I doubt it's an STD. I'm a bit unclear about it, however: do you see actual discharge that's colored, i.e. separate from the urine itself? If so, one option would be to keep a small container handy so that you could collect it; even extracting it from toilet water might preserve enough for examination by a doctor (such as a urologist). That urinalysis has been normal is reassuring, and I cannot think of any STD that could explain this. That said, having unprotected oral sex from time to time, you could have a urine test for gonorrhea/chlamydia (the first half ounce of urine, not midstream) -- but I'm confident it would be negative.
As already implies, you could consider seeing a urologist to be evaluated for prostatitis or perhaps an infected seminal vesicle -- but neither of these is an STD, and these things are not our main expertise on this forum.
Sorry I can't say more -- but I hope these comments are somewhat helpful. Best wishes and good luck.
