[Question #11801] Risk

About 2 weeks ago I received a lapdance w/frottage from a csw. I believe she had underwear on but i did not. Also recieved a handjob in which she used her saliva as lube. Upon completion she used a towel from the bathroom to clean up so I dont know how sanitary that was. No oral, no kissing and no penetration. Im planning on getting tested but want to know what the risk is since its driving me crazy. She mentioned she was clean when I asked but Im still concerned. Please let me know - thank you.

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions and your implied confidence in our service.  I'll be glad to comment.  I was on the Forum when your question arrived so you are getting a reply far more quickly than is the norm.  Any follow-ups (you are permitted two) may take longer.

The activities you describe were no risk for acquistion of HIV and other STIs.  Statistically it is unlikely that your dancer/partner had an STI- typically persons working in the sex industry are cautious and test regularly.  Your risk for an STI would probably be  higher if you had picked up another customer at the bar.  Further, STIs are not transmitted through material such as underwear, even if the underwear is wet with genital secretions

As a generalization- no penetration, no risk.  Receipt of masturbation  (including frottage), even when saliva is used as a lubricant is considered a no risk activity not only by us, but by the CDC and WHO as well.  Further, STIs are not transmitted by transfer on things such as dirty towels or bedding.  From a scientific perspective I see no need for testing although I can understand the comfort that negative test results provide.  You can test for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trich at this time and your results will be reliable and conclusive.  Blood tests for syphilis and HIV will not be entirely conclusive until 6 weeks following the encounter although testing at 4 weeks will be more than 95% reliable.  I urge you not to test for herpes.  If you were going to develop herpes lesions, they would have appeared within 10 days of the encounter and blood tests for herpes in situations such as yours are notoriously unreliable, both in terms of falsely positive and falsely negative results- to perform blood tests in your situation is just asking for trouble.  There are no tests for HPV in men and as noted above, your risk is miniscule if there is any risk at all.

I hope this information is helpful.  EWH

Thank you doctor - would it be safe to say Im at no risk for HPV/syphilis even though you mentioned the testing timeline? Again Im worried there was some incidental contact even though skimp underwear was worn. Sorry for the continued follow up and appreciate the quick responses. I have no apparent symptoms but would like to still have some peace of mind from a professional before I test. Thanks again.

Well, some might argue that there is a theoretical risk for syphilis or a new HPV infection, realistically that is simply not going to happen And it’s not something to worry about?  EWH---

To follow up - I noticed a very tiny red spot/cut on the shaft on my penis last night. Its still there but almost went completely away by this morning. Almost looks like a tiny cut but cant be sure. Does this sound like an STI like Syphilis or possibly from over-inspection?

If the spot you noticed were a STI, it would still be there.  STI lesions and other signs do not come and go.  I suspect you are looking too hard for any sign of an STI and, as a result, seeing normal variation.

As you know, we provide up to 3 responses to each client's questions. This is my 3rd response.  The thread will be closed shortly without further responses.  Take care.  Please don't worry.  EWH

Apologies for the continued questions - today I was hit with a high fever and a brutal headache. Aching in legs and now i see a small red bump on the shaft of my penis.. It looks almost like irritated ppp but I cant be sure. Im very nervous about Syphilis now. I put some bacitracin on the spot and it seems to be getting better. My fever broke after taking a zpack and tylenol. Does this sound like primary syphilis??

The symptoms you describe in no way suggest syphilis.  EWH---
