[Question #11814] STI risk with unprotected Vaginal Sex

Dr’s
I had a previous question regarding my 3 unprotected exposures last month with a woman I met at work. I still have yet to get my gonorrhea and chlamydia test done which I plan on getting soon. My concerns are if she lied and has not been tested what would be my likelihood I caught something? it’s been 4 weeks and do not have any discharge or burning sensation when I urinate. She was willing to have unprotected sex with me so I’m assuming she’s done that with other’s prior, she claims she has not had any recent partners but I cannot confirm this. She told me she had 6 partners last year so I’m going to assume they are all unprotected so I’m really anxious about this.

As I mentioned in my previous post I did have a rash on my arm for 5 days in the part where they draw blood 2-3 weeks after the last time we had sex and I now have a sore lymph node on my left side groin area. No fevers or other rashes in other places.

Welcome back, but after reviewing your recent discussion with Dr. Hook, I don't really understand why you found it necessary. I don't see any questions here that were not covered last time.

I agree entirely with Dr. Hook's evaluation and advice and also would say that testing for any infection is optional. And your symptoms do not suggest any STI. However, you're obviously nervous about it and probably would be more reassured by negative test results than by anything more I can say. So I would advise you to have a urine gonorrhea/chlamydia test (which you can do now) and blood tests for HIV and syphilis (after 6 weeks). Alternatively, propose to your partner than you both get tested now. Maybe you will find she is just as concerned about catching an STI from you as you are from her. If you both test negative for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV, you'll both know you could not have infected the other.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

She doesn’t seem to worry about anything related to STI when I have talked to her about it, that and the fact that it seems she’s had multiple partners in the past is what I’m worried about. She’s no longer living in the same state as I am and I cannot go test with her.
How likely is it being asymptomatic to the bacterium infections? Is chlamydia common in the age group of 28-29? I’ve read it was a youth disease before I believe under 25 is more common.

Stop worrying about how frequent infections are in various groups. You were very unlikely to be infected but are free to be tested if you wish. Do your best to move on without worry. If you remain fearful, please re-read every word of this and your previous word; and do you best to believe and accept our reasoned, science based evaluation and advice.

That concludes this thread. Please note the forum policy against repeated questions on the same topic. This will have to be the last about this exposure and your STD fears from it. Thank you for your understanding. I hope the two discussions help you move along without further worry. Best wishes.
