Hi! I know that they say you can’t  get herpes from the toilet because that part is in the whole. But what if hsv does get on the seat would it be contagious 2 and a half half hours later? I worry because I know little kids slide on and off the toilet so it makes me nervous. Could they be at risk if this happens?

Sorry to add another question… if herpes gets on the toilet and I take a shower right after.. will the steam make it so the virus doesn’t die so now it can infect my kids?

Also, will hand soap and water on toilet paper kill the virus on the toilet if that is what I cleaned it with ?

This could only be an issue if you had an outbreak on your buttocks and it sounded to me from your other post that the outbreak was genital.  You don't slide your genitalia over the seat, right? Only a child does.
A shower steam has no impact on the condition of the virus, no
Soap and water will kill any virus that might be on the toilet seat, yes. Definitely.  A lipid layer surrounds the virus and soap destroys the lipid layer, causing the virus to die right away.
I do not consider this a risky experience for your child

I wouldn’t have worried about it but I did miss the seat and sat right on the front of the toilet seat with my front lady area. and I do have a bump.. And I always wash it off after If that happens. But this time I didn’t because I got distracted!! Im so mad at myself.  But she did use it 2 and a half hours later.. do you think the virus would have been dead and unable to infect her after this amount of time? I’m loosing sleep over this now.

Sorry I also wanted to add that I take 500 mg once a day of Valtrex.

Between you taking the Valtrex daily and it being 2.5 hours after this occurred that she used the toilet, so the virus had plenty of time to die, I do not see this as a risk to your daughter.
