[Question #11829] Massage

Hi,
On August 7, I had a deep tissue massage. The therapist was fully clothed. I had my underwear on. She was massaging my neck with too much pressure. I ended up with red bruises on my neck. She also walked on my back with sheets covering my back. Their was no handjob, no sexual activities, none.
Today, August 19, I woke up with severe fatigue, very tired all my joints hurt. I have, when taking a deep breath, chest pain and would feel like my heart beat in my throat. I also have a 38 degree fever and bit of diarrhea.
There was no runny nose.
So, today i tested using the insti third generation rapid test that looks for antibodies, it was negative.
I am certain this is not hiv but the timing of the symptoms gave me the fears.
I just wanted to make sure.
Also, I want to know when will the insti antibodies will be positive after on set of symptoms?. I know dont have hiv but want to make sure.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your question. Your own conclusion is exactly right: as you say your self, it is "certain this is not HIV".
---
First, you had a zero risk exposure in regard to HIV, which cannot be transmitted by massage. Even if you had been entirely unclothed, there would have been no risk. Second, it is not possible to have HIV symptoms with a negative HIV antibody test: it isn't HIV that causes symptoms, but the immune response to it; and immune response means antibody. In other words, if your symptoms were caused by HIV, your INSTI test already would be positive.
Given the zero risk of the event, there really is no reason to test again. But if you would like additional reassurance, you can have a conclusive test result around 6 weeks after the event. I'm really not recommending it. If somehow I were in your situation, I would not have any more tests. However, you might either see a doctor about your symptoms, or test yourself for other common causes -- especially covid. It probably would help relieve your HIV fears if you are able to establish the actual cause of your symptoms, which are typical for covid, influenza, and other viral infections.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

So I shouldn’t be worried about hiv despite all the symptoms I have , fever chest pain sore throat fatigue .?
Also when can I take the third generation antibody to be conclusive.

"So I shouldn’t be worried about hiv despite all the symptoms I have , fever chest pain sore throat fatigue?" Correct. Your negative HIV test result is 100% proof. Have a covid test; I'm betting on a positive result. Anyway, HIV is absolutely impossible from the massage; it really shouldn't even be on your mind.

"Also when can I take the third generation antibody to be conclusive." At 3 weeks, it would be ~90% conclusive. 6 weeks for 100%.

Took a Covid test today , negative
Also today took another insti antibody hiv test also negative
So probably it’s a respiratory infection or something else?

Yes, a respiratory infection is likely. It could be influenza or RSV (respiratory syncytial virus, currently epidemic in many areas). Or, more seriously, maybe bacterial pneumonia -- because of the chest pain, common in pneumonia but not the others. This could be serious; you should see a doctor soon, especially if your symptoms are worsening; or immediately (even on a Sunday night) if you are short of breath or if your fever is high (over 102F/39C). With 100% certainly, it is not HIV.
That completes the two follow-up exchanges included with each question and normally would end this thread. However, I am concerned about your symptoms and hoping you'll be seeing a doctor soon. I'll leave the thread open or one more cycle to hear what happens next. Good luck.
