Hello. I have never officially been diagnosed with genital herpes. Over the last 12 years I have taken three hsv tests and they have always come back as negative for hsv 2. Positive for hsv 1 but that is because I have had cold sores for 25 years. I have had some concerning things down stairs before so I take daily Valtrex of 500 mg. I felt a bump on my labia but couldn’t see it so I dug at myself until I was bleeding. I did this a few times. Later that area look suspicious. All scratched up with some white in the middle. I went to get it swabbed the next morning but now I’m concerned that the Valtrex will mess with the results. How would it mess with the results? It could possibly make it a false negative?

You need to stop the Valtrex now and in three months, take a herpes western blot antibody test, not an IgG. If you develop a lesion while off medication, have it swab tested. It is very likely that you don't have HSV 2

To add I only has 2 partners before my husband and my husband was a virgin. All my hsv tests have been taken since I’ve been with my husband of 12 years.

To add to my bump situation. I could feel a bump but there wasn’t one physically there.. so maybe it was under the skin. Then I began scratching at it
