[Question #11837] Test results

Hi Terry. I hope that these questions aren’t considered the anxiety ones. I got my test results back from the swab it was negative. The dr said it doesn’t matter if I was on Valtrex or not the test result is still correct. But I honestly trust you more. So I don’t know how to accept this result?

I think the PCR swab was truly unnecessary due to a negative IgG test result. But your doctor is incorrect - Valtrex, in a person who has herpes, can influence swab testing.

Okay thank you! I only got is swabbed because the white in it.. that made me nervous! If it was an actual herpes sore does that just mean that the valtrex was doing its job and it wasn’t detected in the lesion? My only fear ever with this is transferring it to my kids! With the towel and floor situation in my last post! Thank you Terri! Your my saving grace answering my questions

If you do have HSV, which I don't believe you do, then Valtrex would have been doing its job and reducing the amount of virus in a lesion, yes.
Please - consider stopping the Valtrex completely and do a herpes western blot to see if you are infected.
If there was a period of at least three months when you were NOT on Valtrex since you started to be with your husband, you can test with the blot now.

I have only been on the daily valtrex for the last 3 years of the 13 we have been together.
So can assume that there would not be virus on the towel or the floor after my shower? I just get scared to affect my little girl :(

To also add to that shower floor situation (sorry) if she stood on the wet rug outside the shower where there could also be possible hsv from it touching my sore then water running down my leg onto the rug… could it go from her foot to my hand to the wipe to her bottom when I wiped her butt? Or onto the Pull up because her feet always touch the inside when I put on her pull up?

The shower situation is simply not a risk at all. You need a good test - why are you delaying even one more day? Instead of worrying about wild possibilities for infecting your child, you need to get a western blot to find out if you even have this at all!
