[Question #11896] Unprotected oral encounter

Hi, I visited a massage place and received a handjob but also she pulled her underwear to the side and exposed herself. I "flicked" just the top outside of her vagina with only the tip of my tongue for maybe less than 30 seconds. I never inserted my tongue between her lips or inside of her. No smells, no sores. Am I low risk for sti from this? I had an irritated tongue since that day (5 days ago) but I think my anxiety is causing me to mess with my tongue and it's scraping on my teeth. Please advise!

Welcome to our Forum. I'll be glad to comment. The brief, non-penetrative exposure you describe was virtually no risk for STIs, including HIV. Most commercial sex workers do not have STIs- they check regularly because of their known risk. Further, your oral contact to her external genitals would not result in acquistion of any STI she might have. I would not worry and would not feel the need to test. EWH---

Thank you so much for the response. That is definitley reassuring. I assume the reaction my tongue is having is stress/anxiety related and my mind is manifesting issues from it.
Thank you, Dr Hook!

One last thing, if there was a risk could an sti acquired orally be also in genitals? Or does it stay local? Now today I've been experiencing what feels like the need to always urinate. There has been zero vaginal intercourse or oral performed on me. Maybe coincidence or just I'm just freaking out still about all this.
Thanks again.

That’s a good question. STI’s are local processes and do not spread to other parts of the body. Therefore, a genital infection would stay in the genitals and only be transmitted through genital sex. Similarly oral infections would stay in the oral cavity..
Studies have shown that urinary frequency is not a sign of STI, unlike burning on urination or an obvious penal discharge. On the other hand, urinary frequency is a sign of anxiety.
As you know, we provided up to three responses to each client’s question. Therefore, the thread will be closed shortly without further responses. Take care and please don’t worry. EW H.
