[Question #11980] STD & Mpox fear

Hi
After 3 years without visiting escorts, I stupidly decided to again today.
I visited a 'high-class' TS (MTF) escort.
a) Oral sex from her mouth to my penis (no condom)
b) Rimmed her anus deeply, kissed her perineum and scrotum
c) Light mouth kissing (no tongues)
d) Fingered her anus a bit

As usual I am worried sick.. I have a daughter and another being born next week and I am terrified I will get mpox and pass it on to my children.
1) Please let me know my risk for mpox based on the above
2) Is it prudent to stay away from my children (no kissing, hugging, touching) until a few weeks have passed?
3) When would I be out of the woods for mpox

I plan to get tested at 2 and 6 weeks for everything else

Please help.. worried sick

Welcome back to the Forum.  The good news here is that it's been 7 months since your last questions, the bad news is that you continue to worry needlessly about very low risk exposures.  Your concerns that if you had acquired an STI, that you would pass it on to your daughter through touching, hugging, or kissing are entirely groundless.  In reply to your specific questions:

1) Please let me know my risk for mpox based on the above
Your risk for mpox is very low.  Mpox is transmitted primarily through lesion contact and your partner is at low risk for mpox.

2) Is it prudent to stay away from my children (no kissing, hugging, touching) until a few weeks have passed?
No, abstinence of that sort in unnecessary and unwarranted.

3) When would I be out of the woods for mpox
The incubation period for mpox is between 5 and 21 days with most infected persons developing lesions between 7 and 10 days after exposures.  If there are no lesions, you are not infectious to others

Please don't worry.  EWH

Thank you Dr, that does reassure me
I would also like to note that I did not notice any blemishes or lesions of any time on the escort, none.. does this lend a more positive outlook to things also?

Yes, it certainly does.  I think you are worrying entirely too much.

Hi Dr
At 15 days post-event I had a panel done.
Gonorrhoea & Chlamydia - urine and throat swab - NEGATIVE
HIV, syphillis, Hep B and C - negative

My questions:
1) Are those tests enough to put gonorrhea and chlamydia to rest (both throat and urine)
2) How worried should I be about HIV.. I have read the odds, but is analingus and unprotected receptive oral a real concern for HIV?
3) What is the actual window period for HIV? I am using a state of the art London-based NHS STD clinic  which uses 5th generation testing but says that "The test may not detect infection from a recent risk, but is highly accurate if performed 45 days after the last risk and almost 100% after 8 weeks.". What do you think of their assessment of the window period in my case?

Thank you

Final Responses:

1.  Yes, your results prove that you did not get gonorrhea or chlamydia.
2.  Neither receipt of oral sex, nor analingus put you at meaningful risk for HIV.
3.  A negative test for HIV using a 4th or 5th generation test is conclusive any time more than 6 weeks (42 days) after a possible exposure.  We have never seen or heard of a test becoming positive after that in anyone who has not taken anti-HIV medication.  I am confident that your tests are not going to become positive.

This concludes this thread.  Please don’t worry.  EWH
