[Question #11981] Trying to move on from CSW encounter

First off thank you docs for all you do. I had sex with a female CSW and a massage parlor in California with a condom about a year and a half ago. After 6 months I started to have some symptoms of HIV which i feel have continued to this day. I then started to have thoughts of did I really use a condom? Or did the condom fall off with out me knowing?.I have continued to play what happened in my head to the point where I am struggling to remember when I was so sure a condom was used before this. I have been to the establishment before and every girl I have been with provides condoms. I guess I asking this question for reassurance purposes, I have been have unprotected sex with my wife through out this time and after aIso think that is why I am having so much fear. I have test multiple times for HIV in the past for no risk scenarios and I am really trying not to test because it just feeds into my ocd

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your implied confidence in our service. I’ll be glad to comment. Your question suggests that you are focused on the possibility that you might have acquired HIV as a result of having not used a condom. You don’t mention specifically what symptoms you think might be due to HIV. Given your focus on this topic however, my strong recommendation is to get a single test to address your concerns. If you had acquired HIV, the test would be positive.
Having a single test is not a bad thing. What happens for a person who have OCD is that they cannot believe their test and test repeatedly. You should not do that but to move forward from this problem, you do need a negative test.
I hope this information is helpful to you. EW H.

Thanks for your response doc. I am 99 Percent sure a condom was used. The only reason I'm not 100 percent is because 6 months after, I got COVID and my tonsils started to swell and I have had body aches that continue to this day. that started my downward spiral into thinking a condom was not used. I have had this issues before because of my ocd not being able to recall things when it comes to no risk sexual activities. But I guess you are right a test is the only way to calm my mind. But do you think based of your knowledge I am likely to be negative?

I think you are overthinking this. I suspect this is more due to your OCD than anything else. I continue to recommend you to test, once, and when the test is negative as I anticipate it will be to move forward. EWH.---
