 Hello Doctor

I asked my wife why she would treat herself with Ceftriaxone and she showed me the indications for that medicine for UTI.  In the field she is in, they use it often to treat multiple issues in addition to keflex specifically UTI . My tests for Gonnorrhea, Clamydia and trech are all negative.  It appears that all my wife's symptoms have resolved since taking the Ceftriaxone and Keflex.  Past couple days , I am experiencing possibly slight burring in the tip of my penis and today I  saw a tiny amount of discharge in my underwear, they were black so was noticeable very small and not consistent.

Sorry hit send to soon

Here are the additional  questions.

1.  If she has no symptoms after the treatment that she took, would that indicate that she or I may not have M. Gen?
2.  Do you Think it is necessary to test for M. Gen?
3.  If in fact I did have MGen and passed it to her, could it be possible that the treatment she took cleared it?  Or might it just be dormant and can come back?  I see no information related to treating Mgen with that medication.
4.  Would it be wise to not have sex for a couple weeks to see if her symptoms return? Or do you think that this might all be in my head?

Thank you

I'm not going to get into a debate with your wife (through you) about UTI management. Only that there are aspects of what you have written that I question, both about her diagnosis of UTI and the use of cephalosporins (like ceftriaxone and cephalexin) for treatment. But I'm glad she is improving.

Mycoplasma genitalium is not a plausible explanation for your wife's problems and you were at little or no risk for it. I remain confident you acquired no STD from the sexual exposures described in your previous thread. In addition, the antibiotics your wife took are not effective against M genitalium, additional evidence it wasn't the cause of her symptoms.

1. See above.
2. No, I would not test for M gen.
3. See above. No.
4. Probably it makes sense to not have sex together for a week or two, just to avoid stirring things up -- not because of STD risk.
