[Question #12100] Internal Anal Bump

Good evening,

Since I was young, I have been diagnosed with what my GI called "mild irritable bowl syndrome". Sometimes after a bowl movement I will check to make sure that there's no blood, no hemorrhoids, etc.. Today during my shower, I was cleaning myself and decided to check for hemorrhoids, and I went a little deeper than I normally do, to put it one way. I felt what might be described as a very, very tiny... bump? It's almost difficult to describe. I could only feel one, and it was quite small. Is it normal for there to be things like that internally when it comes to the anal area? My first thought was, well, could it be something like HPV? I did not think so, as I have been fully vaccinated for HPV since 2022 and until recently had never had anal sex (think in the last month or so). I have, in the past, during masturbation, attempted to finger myself a little, and this may have been during a time when I had an HPV infection and didn't know what it was. Perhaps this is nothing to worry about, but I wanted to ask just in case, to confirm if this sounded like HPV, or if it sounds quite normal for the internal anal area. Thanks for the help!

To clarify, it didn't quite feel like a hemorrhoid, which in my experience can be quite large?

Welcome back, but I'm sorry your found it necessary. As I said in responding to one of your several previous questions, "You recognize that your concerns about HPV and warts amount to an obsession -- and like most obsessions, your concerns are unwarranted and mostly irrational."

This is outside the expertise we provide. I have no way of guessing the cause the rectal bump you are feeling. I'll only advise that as far as I know, various irregularities in the rectum are common and I see no reason to suppose you are feeling a wart or anything else abnormal. And warts take several weeks, and usually months, to develop. Therefore I doubt this has anything to do with your starting to have receptive anal sex for the first time. All I can advise is to see a doctor if you remain concerned.
