Hi, Im 28M my exposure was with an escort women unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex, the total duration was about 30 min, After two months i start getting white tongue and inflammations in mouth, and also swollen lymph nodes under the jaw 3 or more(Not sure if i had them before and i didn’t notice them), doctors think it’s oral thrush, so at the day 74 i got 4th gen lab test of all std except hsv and everything is negative, at the 84 i repeated the hiv test in another lab and it was negative
I asked a doctor about my tests and he told me well if you think you could have it then test again after 6 months.
I want to ask you if it’s necessary to do that because the stress is killing me.
And if gen 4 test is enough or i have to do pcr also to be sure, Thank you

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions.  I’ll be glad to comment.  The Dr. you spoke to took the “ path of lease resistance” by suggesting more testing at a later date.  The encounter you describe was no risk as long as you wore the condom throughout your vaginal sex and there are no proven cases of HIV ever acquired from receipt of oral sex.  Your tests verify that you were not infected- tests taken more than 6 weeks (42 days) after an encounter are conclusive and will not change.  Thus both your 74 and 84 the test results prove that you were not infected. There is no reason for further testing. The results are not going to change.  A PCR test would likewise be negative and a waste of resources.

The inflammation and associated lymph node swelling that you have noted in and around your mouth is due to something other than HIV

Please don’t worry. Be confident you do not have HIV. EWH
