[Question #12118] HSV-1 Transmission
|
I mistakenly took a drink from a friends straw while they had sores present and they have oral herpes. I took one sip and it was taken after the drink had sat in a car for at least an hour. What is the possibilty of being infected? Should I test? I've had no symptoms.

transmission of HSV 1 in this was is very unlikely, especially since the drink had sat in a car for at least an hour. I would NOT recommend testing due to the high rate of false positives. If you develop a symptoms of a sore on your mouth, have it swab tested for HSV right away, but I'm guessing you won't
