[Question #12142] Back Again - PEP Question

Hi Doctors,

Sorry to be back again so soon, but I had some last questions about having sex during my course of PEP treatment. It had not been more than 3 months after I finished PEP and my HIV tests are still negative. However, I am still having anxiety, and have the below questions- which I hope I am asking correctly.

1. As you may recall, I had unprotected sex with my regular partner during the course of my PEP treatment (day 19 of taking PEP). Is it possible that I could have given her HIV from this act, even though my tests are still negative?

2. Could me finishing my PEP regime led to HIV being cured out of my system after I transmitted the virus to her?

I'm at a loss as to why you have returned to the Forum with these repetitive questions.  A month ago Dr. Handsfield and I each told you that you had proven that you did not have HIV and that you could not have transmitted HIV to your partner while you were taking PEP.  Specifically, Dr. Handsfield said " ...Either way, you never were infected with HIV and could not have transmitted the virus to anyone else. ,,,,,It's impossible to transmit while on PEP because the drugs prevent the virus from surviving in the body. If there is no virus, of course there is no chance of transmission."  This message is clear and should be hard to misunderstand.

Thus, the answer to your 2 questions are
1.  See above.  This is not possible.
2.  Np

You were warned previously that further repetitive, anxiety-driven, unrealistic questions would not be answered.  I have nonetheless answered them.  Now the thread will be closed.  You should not need to return to the Forum.  If you do, you may not get a reply at all and your posing fee will not be returned.  EWH
