Dear Terri
Thank you for your forum and I have a questions for you. I just asked a question and now I have to ask another. This is another topic and incident. I am currently traveling for work and well. I was doing a massage and the lady did a happy ending. She used her hand and did get close to me and from what I saw and did not spit or used her mouth . After she turned on the light I noticed an active cold sore. What are the chances of catching genital hsv 1 she was using oil. Should i worry? Like what can I do, this happen 1 hour and immediately took a shower’
Thank you for your help!

I don't think you should worry, no, as there was no oral contact per your description. Being close to you is NOT a risk factor for the acquisition of virus from her cold sore.

Thanks for the quick feedback! One more last thing, what happened if she touched her mouth and then my penis? Could that be a way to transmit it? For this experience if I don’t develop let’s say nothing in the next days I should just let it go and not worry about it ? I mean no testing or should I?

If she touched her lip and then touched your penis, there is some risk of transfer from her to you, but minimal because hands are not a great carrier of this virus. If you've developed no symptoms in 10 days, I would stop worrying about it. Also, if you have ever had a cold sore in your life yourself, this is not a concern as it is extremely unlikely that once you have this virus in one location in your body that you would then acquire it in a new location.

Thank you Terri for the quick feedback. I just remember as she was coughing and maybe she touched and then me. Does the virus die in the hand? Not exactly the sore but then I’ll never know, as you say the risk is very small ,maybe not enough to worry and I will do that. I’ve never had cold sores and tested negative in igg before. I’ll keep a lookout for the next 10 days . Id you would to rate the scale from 1-10 what would it be on risk? And once again ‘ thanks for your reply this will be my last comment.

I would say a "1", if any. Virus is lost in the transfer from the cold sore to the hand, then lost again, hand to you. We just don't see herpes being transmitted via hands (at least not yet, not in 40 years anyway)
