[Question #12282] Syphillis risk

I am married and had a moment of weakness. I met a guy online for mutual masturbation. Our penises touched for a minute or two and there was some ejactulation from him but not on my penis as far as im aware. I saw no lesions but it was hard to tell as it was dark.
I have been worried sick about sti so went for a full screen with blood tests at 29 days. I have no sypmtons whatsoever. All negative. I read online about 9-90 days incubation period which made me panic so i took a follow up 4th gen hiv and syphilis tppa at 45 days. Also negative (the wording said "not detected) I have seen your answers say 6 weeks is conclusive but im worried due to it being msm. I cant stop worrying and i need to put this behind me. As said i am married and put off sex until i had my results but i still cant relax. Can i conclusively say i am negative?

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment. The bottom line is that you are in a clear, both based on the nature of your interaction as well as your test results. I’ll expand:
1. Mutual masturbation is safe sex with virtually no risk, even when participants get each other’s genital secretions on one another. There is agreement on this from the CDC, the WHO, and among us.
2. For HIV, tests are more than 98% conclusive at 28 and entirely conclusive at any time more than 42 days. Have confidence in your results.
3. For syphilis, if a lesion were going to appear it would have done so by 30 days ( the average is about 21 days). More importantly. Blood tests also typically become positive by day 30 and almost certainly by 45-60 days. The 90 day estimate is out of date and incorrect
I urge you to believe your results and move forward. I see no need for additional testing. EWH

Thank you. Just to confirm the mutual masturbation was frottage so is that still low risk, lots of posts say syphilis is possible from frottage

Frottage, like other forms of masturbation is a virtually no risk activity. EWH---

Thank you for the reassurance. I found out i have hsv 2 although i believe this is a prior infection. Would that have any impact on the testing time?

Also, the head of tge penises touched for a second or two. Does that still count at low risk?

Your HSV blood test could reflect a previous infection or even a false positive test. I am confident that it is not related to the encounter you describe. That is th case even if the heads of your penis touched. Please don’t worry.
