[Question #12297] Hand Job at Strip Club

Hello,
Thank you so much for this website and all of your help and expertise.
Around 15-16 months ago I went to a strip club and paid for a lap dance.
Well, the dancer did more than that and started giving me a hand job.
Immediately after it happened I felt awful and ashamed and tried to just bury it in my head as a mistake.

Recently, I have become very nervous about the possibility of getting an STD/STI like herpes from this encounter.

I do not believe there was any body fluid on her hand and it was very quick - probably 2 or 3 minutes total if that.

It has been more than a year and I have not gotten any symptoms of any of these diseases - no outbreaks, no warts

Also - I received the 3 shot hpv vaccine a couple years back .

Am I overreacting or should I go about getting tested ? I would feel horrible knowing I gave anything to a partner without knowledge.

I am seeing it is "possible" to get these types of sti's from this act, but it's very unlikely .

I appreciate your time.

Welcome to the Forum.  Thanks for your questions and your implied confidence on our service.  I'll be glad to comment.  Please don't worry about your receipt of masturbation. There is no risk of acquistion of any STI, including HIV from receipt of masturbation.  Not only we on this forum but also the CDC and WHO are in complete agreement on this.  STIs are not transmitted from person to person on the hands,, even of there are genital secretions or a cut or scrape on the hands.

In addition to the no risk nature of your exposure, if you acquire an STI and were going to develop symptoms, you would have done so long ago.

I see no reason for concern, no reason for testing and no reason for you to be ashamed over the incident.  if you do not want to repeat it, that's you choice but there is no reason for shame.

Please don't be misled by the incorrect information that is so very common on the internet- again this was a no risk event'

Finally congratulations on getting the HPV vaccine.  We recommend it for all of our clients.

I hope that this information is helpul.  If any part of this reply is unclear, please feel free to use your up to 2 follow-ups for clarification.  EWH

Thank you so much for your answer.
I have gone through and read up on past threads - and from what I have gathered.... getting a handjob or masturation from someone else wouldn't have any risks, even without the hpv vaccine?

I am nervous that I could have gotten one of the strains that aren't protected by the vaccine and go undetected in men.

This would be highly unlikely from a handjob, right ?

Thank you

Correct, it would be most unusual to catch HPV of any sort from receipt of masturbation.

If you are worried about HPV, the best advice I can provide you is to get the HPV vaccine which would provide protection against over 90% of infections caused by the HPV types that cause visible warts and over 70% of the HPV types which cause asymptomatic infections.

Around 12 years ago, I got genital warts.
I had this taken care of- I went back for treatment a few times over the next year or so.

It has been around 10 years since I have had any genital warts.

I also gave oral sex one time to someone who was later found to have high risk hpv. This was 9 years ago.

I went two years without engaging in any sexual activity after that.

I have regularly gone to the dentist and they have screened me for oral cancer and no signs of anything wrong .

About 2 or 3 years back , I was told by my doc there is a good chance my body may have cleared the virus, so I was given the 3 shot hpv vaccine to help protect me against re infection .

Do you agree that there's a good chance I cleared the virus naturally ?

I have a regular sex partner and I am concerned I may be at risk of spreading the high risk hpv to her via oral without knowing I have it

Thanks for the additional information.  I do agree that there is a high probability that your body cleared any HPV present naturally.

I trust your regular partner has been vaccinated.  If so, there is little risk that she/he can be infected by you in the unlikely circumstance that you are shedding HPV.  I should add that if your partner is unvaccinated and has ever had sex with anyone else, it is likely that she/he already has HPV.  This is simply not something to worry about.

Thank you Dr.
I must admit
All of that history combined with what I feared would be a risky activity (strip club encounter from first message) has had me in a bit of an unhealthy stress spiral the last couple weeks.

So it's very helpful to read this.
