[Question #12354] Oral risk

Two nights ago I met with a man I had been chatting with online. It was supposed to be just mutual masturbation but he unexpectedly leaned over and started giving me unprotected oral. It only lasted 5 seconds or so like 3 pumps. I pushed him off and left shortly after washed my penis with soap.

I started panicking immediately because I’m married.  I started feeling a dull ache in my testicles around 15-18 hours but that could have been blue ball’s.

At 19 hours I took 800mg of Cefixime and started doxy this morning at 32 hours. I’m out and checking constantly. Realistically I know I should be fine. But I’m terrified of infecting my wife.
The man claims I’m worrying for nothing as he got tested last month and doesn’t hookup except with a close friend, and that we didn’t exchange fluids, the oral was not deep but I’m afraid my urethra came in contact with something.

1- I know Ngu,gon, and lesser so chlamydia are my main risk do you think given the circumstances I prevented these taking hold?
2- should I avoid sex with my wife?

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  The expsoure you describe was virtually no risk even before you took the medications you took and with the medicines is effectively no risk for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and HIV.  I would not worry and see no medical reason for testing.  Regarding your specific questions:

1- I know Ngu,gon, and lesser so chlamydia are my main risk do you think given the circumstances I prevented these taking hold?
I agree with your assessment and agree that you have effectively eliminated your close to no risk status which was operative before you took the antibiotics.

2- should I avoid sex with my wife?
I see no reason related to the encounter you describe to avoid unprotected sex with your wife.

This evening will be 72 hours post exposure. I’m currently still experiencing tingling and a weird burning feeling in my testicles. I’ve experienced this several times before but no std ever found. No discharge yet.

-I was prescribed 800mg Cefixime because it was a virtual visit, i know it’s not the recommended treatment due to resistance can I be confident that it worked taking it at 19 hours?

- Can I really be confident that the exposure was almost no risk? Just to clarify he did bob up and down 2 or 3 times before me stopping but again it was very brief before I stopped him. 5 seconds or so and that’s it.

-I’ve experienced this in the past after low risk and sometimes no risk fully protected exposures. Usually mainly manifesting in testicle pain, urethra burning NOT during urinating though. Any idea what could cause this? I have never tested positive and been examined by urologists years ago

Persons who are anxious about an exposure, tend to be looking hard for symptoms. In the situations they tend to notice otherwise normal sensations, which should be overlooked. Tingling and itching are common in these situations. The tingling that you are experiencing in your testicles, do not suggest an STI. My assessment is unchanged. EWH.---

Thank you for your responses Doctor, I’m guessing this is my last post.
I’m trying my best to let this all go and get back to life and the holidays.

I chatted with the man a little more and found out he’s had more partners than he said and he began to get aggravated when I tried to go into detail about std testing. He still maintains he was tested last month and all negative I never got to ask if this included oral swabs. Does this change anything?

It’s comforting to know you consider this such a low risk. I’ve been reading over this website and the internet in general so it can be a bit scary to see. I saw a website that put the percentage to contract gono from an infected partners mouth at around 40%.  That crushed me.

Again I appreciate you providing facts and reassurance and hope you have a safe and happy holidays

Like so much of what you’ll find on the internet, the 40% figure is incorrect and far too high.  No change in my assessment.  If you are nervous ( and obviously you are) consider getting a urine test.  I am confident that between the nature of your encounter and the ( unneeded) antibiotics you took, the test will prove you were not infected.

Going forward I urge you to stay off the internet. It’s full of misinformation.

This completes this thread.  EWH
