[Question #12407] Risk Assessment

Hi,
I am 28M & never been sexually active till now. I met a female on dating app, enjoyed mild drinks in club & kissed very briefly on lips and very mild tongue touch. Later, she gave me a head (protected with condom on) and I simulated her areola and around and inserted my two fingers insider her vagina where I could feel her vaginal fluid. We had protected sex with same condom on for a very brief period of less than 1 mins till I came. Since this was my first time, she guided me in and since we were facing each other, I believe it was protected vaginal sex. I then took the condom out with my hands (my mistake, should have used a tissue) and washed my hands and had bath afterwards (separately). Later when she told that she works as waitress but she also works at some strip club and that she have had multiple partners, I am freaking out.

What are my chances of getting any STI including HIV and others with protected oral sex and protected vaginal sex. Would kissing on mouth and later touching vaginal fluid with hand have any extra issues ? Since I did not know I also touched condom with bare hand while removing it, would this be an issue. It seemed to be intact, not sure about any microtears though.
From the best I can remember, she had no sores on lips and I have no cuts. I really don't know about her testing status, not sure asking her now would be of any help. I was reading PEP was recommended but now I am past 72 hrs window, what are my options here ? I have minor cough in throat now, could that be any symptom ?

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions.  I'll be glad to comment.  Let me start by telling you that PEP is certainly NOT indicated in the situation you describe.  The activities you describe were virtually no risk.  In fact, from a scientific perspective I see no need to test although I understand that you, like other clients, may chose to test for the reassurance that a negative test provides.  The reasons that I characterize this encounter as a no risk event include:

1.  Most people, including most commercial sex workers do not have STIs.
2.  Among STIs, most single unprotected encounters with infected do not result in transmission of infection  (your condom use for penetrative sex lowers your risk further- to close to zero)
3.  STIs are not transmitted through masturbation (such as putting your fingers into a partner's vagina where they contact vaginal fluid).  All forms of masturbation are considered safe, virtually no risk sex by the CDC and WHO as well as those of us on this Forum
4.  Kissing is a virtually no risk event.
5.  STIs are not transmitted from person to person through touching genital secretions or through transfer of genital secretions from person to person on a person's hands
6.  The idea that cuts and abrasions meaningfully increase risk of acquiring STIs, including hiv is an urban myth.
7.  "microtears" as a risk factor for HIV or other STIs is an urban myth
8. There are no STIs, including HIV, that cough suggest.

If you choose to test, testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia and trichomoniasis can be performed any time more than 3-4 days after an exposure.  Blood tests for syphilis and HIV will not be conclusive until 6 weeks after your encounter

This was a virtually no risk encounter for HIV and other STIs- pleasedon't worry.  EWH
