Hi! The corner of my lip is kind of sore. It looks like it’s the inside of my lip that has a canker but there is also a small cut on my lip that you can barely see. It doesn’t look like my usual cold sore… anyways I was eating some candy so I’m worried my finger could have touched it because two mins later I pulled up my daughters pull up to adjust it. So now I’m worried the virus could have gotten on the pull up and infected
Her. I only touched the top part. Should I be worried? Or could it possibly infected her If it was on her pull up and I pulled it off of her an hour later… thinking it could have infected her while it was being pulled off?

Hi again. It looks like my lip just may be dry skin but I’m not for sure! This morning I was taking my daily Valtrex so I know my hand touched my mouth then  my soda can. A few mins later my daughter touched the soda can  and then  she went to use the restroom. Could it transfer to her this way?

This morning while getting ready I was using the  bathroom and I took off  my panty liner because I wear them daily… then I proceeded to go through my bathroom drawer to look for something.. a few mins later my daughter touched the same stuff and then put her hands down her pants because she said her bottom hurts.. if I had a active outbreak would it spread to her in this way?

Welcome back to the forum. Teri is away for a few days and so I will be responding on her behalf. I’m sorry that you continue to worry about transmission of your oral HSV to your child.  The lesion you described, as you have already pointed out, does not sound like herpes.  Even if it were, there was simply no way that you could have transmitted your infection to your child while changing her pull-up.  HP is not transmitted through transfer on an infected person’s hands to another person nor by inanimate objects. I urge you not to worry further about this episode. EWH.---

Thank you! Last night I was changing my daughter’s pull up and she decided to kick her legs (she is 3 and a half ) I’m worried her foot brushed against my lips. I don’t have a current cold sore. Could the virus transfer to her foot and then to her pull up and infect her?

You do not know that your daughter's legs brushed your lips.  Even if her leg did, this would not put her at risk for acquiring your HSV-1.

This thread is your 12th set of questions occurring over the past 4 months.  This is too much.  Your continuing unrealistic fears about HSV and how it is transmitted are not doing you or your daughter any good.  I respectfully suggest that you seek professional counseling to help you put your unrealistic fears in perspective.  EWH---

I understand what you are saying and i apologize. I do have one last question. Does body wash kill the virus like hand soap?
And does it also kill it if wash your hands quicker than the 20 seconds?

Yes, body wash does kill HSP. Even a brief direct exposure would prevent transmission of the virus.

This completes this thread.  EWH
