[Question #12416] Oral sex

Hi there
I had a brief unprotected blow job around 8 months ago. Was not a sex worker. Had erectile dysfunction so nothing more happened after that. No symptoms, just confirming no hiv risk as would like to move on before entering into a new relationship as I do get anxious about these things and would rather not test again for hiv if i don't have too. Thank you

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be glad to comment.  This was a virtually no risk encounter.  Most people do not have HIV or other STIs.  In addition, receptive oral sex is amongst the lowest forms of penetrative sex.  There has never been a proven case of HIV acquisition of HIV from receipt  oral sex.  You are not going to be the first.  There is no need for concern and no need for testing related to the event you describe above.  EWH---

Many thanks, so I can move on from a hiv risk point of view when entering a new relationship? Thanks again for sharing your expertise

Thanks so much, I'm really sorry, but when you say virtually no risk, can I take it that from a practical perspective there is no risk at all and therefore can move on? Just would feel more comfortable with that reassurance before entering into a new relationship. Thank you again

Correct.  In science you can never say never as new observations and discoveries are made virtually every day.

This completes this thread.  EWH
