Welcome to the Forum. As you probably know Terri also answers questions on this Forum however, as you have already communicated with her about this, I will be answering on this site. It should not surprise you that I agree with Terri's assessment. The lesions you describe sound like folliculitis, your HSV -1 infection is oral and not genital, and you certainly do not need to see a hair in a lesion for it to be folliculitis. Also, when a person has HSV-1 and one local, the lips for cold sore, they effectively never get HSV-1 lesions at another location like on the genitals. I can really see no reason to be worried that this might be genital herpes and good reasons to think that they are folliculitis. My advice is to not worry about herpes and certainly not to let concerns about these lesions interfere with your normal sexual activities with your husband.
I hope these comments are helpful. If I am unclear about anything here, please feel free to follow-up with a question so I can try to clarify things. EWH

I suspect that you are correct and that what you are now noticing relates to your anxiety more than anything else.
I think seeing your gynecologist is a fine idea if her/his reassurances will give you peace of mind but before you go, I have two
pieces of which are to commit to accepting their assessment and to give some thought to what has set off these concerns in the
first place.
As you know, we provide up to three responses to questions and this is my third response so I will not be responding further and
will close the thread shortly but I would welcome any answers you might have as to why this began. EWH
