[Question #12442] HIV testing while on antibitic Bactrim

Dr. Hook,
I think know the answer to this question is no, but just want to make sure. Does the antibiotic Bactrim affect HIV testing. Bactrim is said to lower your white blood cells. I dont if that would affect the test.

 You know i did two tests after my kissing incident, one 24 days later, and the one 49 days later. Both Negative. The second one was done while I was taking Backtrim for what I thought was listeria. Does have impact on the test?

Sigh.  This is your 3rd question regarding what was a virtually no risk encounter to begin with.  You need to move on.  This will be the only reply you receive for this question and should you return with additional questions regarding the encounter you described the question may be closed without a response and without return of your posting fee.

That you were taking Bactrim when tested would have no effect on the reliability of your test.  You should believe the results.  You do not have HIV.  EWH
