[Question #12489] Rapid test
|
Hello doctors. I ask this again here as I am aware Terri is seemingly away and I would very much like some advice ASAP. Is it possible for HH or EH to reply. Having a very bad time. It appears TW has not responded for near a week, and in one post HH has informed poster that he will answer. Please help.

Hello Terri,
As predicted, the faint line positive result has led me to continued anxiety.
Despite your reassurance, worry eats away. I think I will have two tests - best I can do in this country is IGG.
I will have one with a lab I used last October - sent a posted entitled ‘Education’, that I did for reassurance and received a clear negative, and another company that claims to use Lab Corps.
A bit annoyed with myself as I was almost 100 percent mentally recovered before the rap is test kit I ordered.
But, reading a conversation of yours to a previous user - can’t find now otherwise I would have posted the number - where he asks do previous negative tests reduce the chance of false positive. You informed him yes it did.
So my question is, with over 10 negative tests since 2015 - 2023, including 5 lab tests from different countries and at least 5 from the r all is test company I posted on another thread - medical assessment 2 - do you still firmly believe my fear essentially is a zero risk exposure? I have a young family, and I a terrified of losing all, even come close to confessing - but hold to hope. Additional question, I understand that this is not a site for psychological support (although you do provide this) I am sick of myself putting myself in these anxiety driven situations. Life going great, family, career, etc, then get drunk and do something completely out of the blue. No idea why or how, only that it ruins me mentally until I test out. I must test out in spite of risk - which you advise will only be false positive.
Does my ten or so prior negative make this more of a risk? Please keep open until I send results. I hope that will be a big relief.

I think your ten negative test results suggest that you are NOT someone who is prone to false positives. The false positives are due to a protein in someone's blood that is similar in some way to the herpes antibody protein that the test is looking for, and this poor test just can't sort that out accurately. That doesn't seem to be happening with you, because your tests have been negative.
You could try doing a test and folllowing the timing in the instructions exactly and see what happens. I believe you said previously that the line appeared AFTER the timing was over that was suggested for the test.
The LabCorp test is better now than the one that Quest currently uses so a negative LabCorp test is a good thing.
I don't know where you are, but counselors are all over the world. It seems to me you should see one to sort out these behaviors that are clearly troubling for you.

Hi Terry,
If I need to pay more for additional response I will. But would like to keep open to post results.
In UAE btw, mentioned in previous post. You stated no possibility of WB.
Regarding timing of the rapid test, it is all a bit of a blur. I may be clinging onto hope I left it late. It is all a bit vague. It did state on the instructions check after 15 mins, do not check after 20 as result maybe inaccurate or invalid, not sure. Difficult to order this again as family may see package in post. I was away before. I should have timed properly but I was rushing. It may or may not have been late. Still, assuming it was not late, and knowing I am not prone to false positive, weighing up my potential risk - prolonged massage - face grinding only wearing panties, possibly she removed them I think not - I was aware enough to refuse a full body massage and hj - fluid in eye that led to HIV and syphilis fear also but tested out for that, some kissing, I think I bit her buttocks once, fingered her until climax. No cunnilingus I am sure. Due to paranoia, I believe I was careful to avoid all contact with my mucous membranes other than feeling moisture in eye. But given HH said 1 in thousands if not millions, you dismissed as a fear - never seen such cases. Certain only oral exposure, do you still believe with certainty my chance of genuine hsv2 exposure is negligible, and even with my record of negatives, this is most certainly a false positive. A future IGG test should be negative? Love to know your final thoughts. But would like to keep open for results. Maybe a week.
Thanks Terri.

I definitely feel that your risk of HSV 2 is even smaller than negligible. And I think it is an overstatement on your part to say you might have a false positive.
I will leave this open for a few more days, but honestly, I'm not going to have a different opinion here.

Hello Terri.
I have still not had the chance to have the IGG test again. I also realize that this is most likely my last post and will close after this. If I have anything troublesome to report when I test - probably within a week or two at most - I will be in contact.
My final question is, as you pointed out to me and previous posts - the fact I have had multiple negative tests prior, I should be low risk of a false positive. You also state that face grinding - I am sure she was wearing her panties - but let’s assume she wasn’t, and no cunnilingus was performed should be basically a zero risk - even if I felt fluid in the eye. So with this said, I hope I am being clear, if my false positive rapid test was not too late - I am really unsure on this (I wish I timed it accurately, but really not sure). I don’t think it was after 20 minutes if I am being honest. Maybe 15 at most. I really do not know. With all this said, would you still be all but certain that the odds of a false positive rapid test from somebody with ten previous negatives including 3 lab tests are far far higher than me acquiring it in this way?
I do not want to irritate you or ask stupid repetitive questions, but I am trying to piece together likelihood in light of all the negatives in the past prior to incident. I hope my question is clear. Really appreciate your help here.
Is it possible I could have caught it on my forehead?
Thank you Terri.

You aren't irritating me, but I don't have any different answers than I had before. I think you don't have HSV
Because the forehead has thick skin, and there is no port of entry available on the forehead, I don't believe you got HSV in that location.
