[Question #12497] HIV risk from opticians poking his finger in eye accidently

Hi Doctors,
Sorry I am back with a different question. Yesterday, when my optitcian was putting my new eye glasses on me, he accidently pocked his finger in my left eye; it did hurt slightly; I am panicking. But I did not see any blood in his finger. If there a risk of this kind of situation? IF he had a cut in his finger, can HIV get in my eye that way, the cut touching my eye? I could not see if he had a cut.
I never liked him putting on my glasses on me. But out of respect, I never said anything.
thanks much

Welcome back to the Forum.  I'm not sure why you have suddenly begun to worry so much.  This is your 4th question in the past month regarding a no risk event.  It is unlikely that your optician has HIV and even if he did, HIV is not transmitted by touching or transfer of blood or infectious material to another person on someone's hands.  This was a no risk event.  There is no scientific or medical reason for testing

Please don't worry.  EWH

Dr. Edward, thank you. In case I did not make it clear, his finger went inside my eye, not the outerpart of the eye, as he was fitting my glasses; his finger and finger nail touched my eye socket, I think.. Is the inside the eye being touched by someone's finger makes a different? or Not at all?

thanks so much, and yes, I worry a lot. These incidents seem to happen one after the other

You were clear and I understood what you said.  I repeat, this was a no risk event with no need for testing.  That perhaps a fingernail also touch your eye makes no difference.  EWH---
