[Question #12500] STD risky event

Hello,
I am a 39 year old male, and I went to a massage parlor and received a handjob unprotected. The massage therapist used spit as lube as well as oil. I noticed afterwards that the therapist had a red area on the inside of there lip. It looked like it could have been a sore of some kind. My question is if you think I could have gotten an std from this. Like maybe the sore secretion got in the spit and infected me. I have a girlfriend of 8 years and I am now worried to give her an std because of the massage. When can I be tested and rely on those results. Thank you for your help.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.

It sounds like you misunderstand some aspects of STD/HIV transmission. Hand-genital contact never is a risk for any infection, even if genital fluids are used for lubrication. And saliva is even less risky. Sores inside the mouth rarely are due to STD, but even if your massage "therapist" had oral herpes or other STD as the cause of her possible oral sore, there would be no significant risk. You do not need testing for anything and can safely continue sex with your regular partner.

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.
