Straight to my questions.
Does taking a vitamin b12 supplement affect hiv test results?
Does taking 50 mcg of Vitamin D3 (with cholecalciferol listed as an ingredient) affect hiv test results?
Thank you

The cholecalciferol is listed as an ingredient on the D3 bottle . This ingredient is my main concern,

Last fact, the bottle says there is less then 2% cholecalciferol in the ingredients. Thank you for your time.

Sorry one other fact I found is cholecalciferol is not a corticosteroid.

How unfortunate that you continue to question the reliability of current tests for HIV. These are amongst the most thoroughly tests, and accurate tests in all of medicine when performed at the correct time. There are NO medicines other than the medicines used to treat HIV which interfere with the accuracy of tests for HIV. Neither do vitamins of any sort with the possible rare exception of biotin when taken in excessive doses (we have discussed this previously, I will not repeat it). Calciferol does not interfere withe the accuracy of tests for HIV either.
You need to relax and believe your test results. EWH

Thank you Dr. Hook.
Is calciferol the same thing as cholecalciferol ?
I assume neither affect hiv tests?
Thanks.

YEs, calciferol and cholecalciferol are the same and as I already said, neither effects the accuracy of tests for HIV. EWH---

Thank you Dr. Hook.
My last question is:
1. Would biotin contained in shampoo affect hiv test results? (I am guessing the answer is no because it doesn’t get to the blood stream)
Thank you

Just thought I would mention my last hiv test was almost a year since my last risk. It was negative.

The shampoo is not prescription. I just noticed one of the many ingredients in it is biotin. It’s made by tre sema.

You’re a follow up question regarding biotin containing shampoos can be answered with common sense. You appear to have figured it out on your own.
This completes this thread. There should be no need whatsoever for you to return with further questions about factors which might negatively affect the performance of test for HIV. Should you return your question may be closed without a reply and without return of your posting fee. EWH.
