[Question #12526] STI exposure ?

Hello , 10 days ago I had Oral and protected vaginal sex with a masseuse . That took no more than a minute or less . I fingered her for a couple seconds as well . I sucked on her nipple too . The whole sexual act was about a minute , it happened very quick . I don’t know what type of condom because she brought it , and i couldn’t check it because she took it off of me . It was intact the whole time though . I had a friction burn/abrasion on my penis which was covered by the condom and I’m worried it could’ve gotten infected while taking the condom off . After the act I showered . I went in today (Day 10) to get a full STI panel test done , can I be in the clear and have unprotected sex with my partner if everything is negative ?

Welcome to the Forum.  Thanks for the question.  I'll be glad to comment.  The encounter you describe was a safe, no risk event.  There are a number of reason I say this. These include:

1.  Most people do not have STIs.
2.  Even if she did, most single exposures do not lead to infection.
3.  Condoms are highly effective for prevention of STI acquistion.  As long as they are worn throughout the encounter, they are virtually 100% effective for prevention of gonorrhea, chlamydia and HIV and reduce the risk of other less common STIs about 50-60%
4.  The most common STIs cause symptoms within 5-7 days of exposure.

In circumstances such as this, we do not feel strongly the testing is even needed.  If you choose to test, I am confident the results will be negative.  When they are, I would encourage you to put any concerns you might have aside and move forward without concern, including having unprotected sex with your partner.  EWH

Thank you for the reply Dr. I do have some questions still . Does inserting fingers in the vagina have any risks ? & also , do you think the friction burn or abrasion could’ve got fluids as I was taking the condom off ?

Inserting your fingers into a partner's vagina is a form of masturbation which is also a no risk event.  Similalry a fraction burn or abrasion occuring during the exposure is also no risk.

Again, I urge yuo to not worry.

You have one follow-up remaining.  EWH

Last question Dr . Does the time of exposure have any affect at all ? It was only a 30 second-45 second encounter

There are no studies which evaluate duration of exposure however it is logical that the longer the exposure the higher the risk.  The brief duration of your exposure is another reason to consider this a no risk event

This completes this thread.  I hope that the information I have provided is helpful.  Please don't worry.  EWH
