hello, I would like to start by saying this will be my last question, I am getting help with OCD/anxiety thoughts. I have looked through the forum to answer this question but I haven’t really found info. as you know I’ve dealt with anxiety regarding chlamydia because of my infection once in 2021. I haven’t had it since and have been careful. I have read that chlamydia bacteria can colonize the GI tract and reinfect you out of the blue. I was wondering what information you have on this, and if you can ease my worries. In the back of my head I’m worried I’ll be reinfected again at any point in my life because the bacteria is possibly in my GI tract even though I only had chlamydia for less than a month back in 2021. I’m scared to have unprotected sex ever because of the fact that I convinced myself it’s still somehow in my system. I want to move on from this worry. Can you give me information on the likelihood of this if you have any? Is there a way I could check to see if the bacteria is living in my GI tract ? (Say If it’s in my GI tract and I get feces near my vagina and it reinfects my vagina). Or is this so stupid and not something to worry about. Please don’t delete this, I won’t be back with any questions after this.

I’ve been tested many times and it hasn’t returned in these 4 years so I know that’s a good sign. But I don’t understand if it’s possible to return on its own without sexual activity with a new infected partner. I’m so sorry for being repetitive I just can’t find any reliable information online about this. :( I need your help!

Treatment of chlamydia with doxycycline eradicates it from the intestine (if it is there at all). You are not at risk for  rectal to genital reinfection.

Our policy on repeated anxiety driven questions is clear and you have been so advised in at least two of your previous threads. Future questions will not get even this much reply, but immediate deletion without refund of the posting fee. Thank you (for the last time) for your understanding. Good luck with your professional counseling.
