[Question #12591] Unprotected Oral

I had a major one time indiscretion. Obviously feeling guilty and anxious. M2 M oral both giving and receiving with no climax. I had a full test and panel done 3 days later. The herpes 1 came back abnormal. Would this even be possible from this exposure?

I didn’t notice any abnormalities

Another clarification. It’s reactive in one column and non reactive in the other column. Again no symptoms.

Last addition. I did receive brief, protected anal. Very little actual penetration maybe 1 minute. No condom integrity issues. No ejaculation event with any of this.

A positive HSV 1 antibody test would not be the result of a contact 3 days prior, no.
Were you bottom or top with anal sex?  As long as the condom was intact, fully, both positions would not present a risk

Bottom. It was very brief. Next to no penetration do to loss of erection. Condom fully intact and stayed they were clean. So is it safe to assume that I’m ok and have severely overreacted? And that the hsv1 abnormal test is either a false positive or from previous exposure. (Odd because I’ve been otherwise monogamous.) I have never had any symptoms for anything and probably would’ve never known that was there if it wasn’t for this one stupid incident. I have a wife and children and my only concern is that they are safe. My wife wants to have sex and I’m running out of excuses.

I understand the weight of the decision and I’m in total disbelief that it happened. I appreciate what you guys are doing. Can I go back to loving my family without panicking about every red patch on my kids face and being the husband I was 7 days ago. I’m afraid I’m worrying myself sick and I earned every second of it.

In my opinion, you should go back to your loving family and be the husband you've likely been for many years.  HSV 1 positivity is common in about 50% of adults in the US - mostly the cold sore virus orally.  Be gentle with yourself - people make decisions that aren't always positive.  I think you are OK and have reacted with concern that is appropriate.
