Good morning! I tested negative on 12 Sep, 24 4th gen test.I am a male that met another male to have sex toy sex after talking online for a few weeks. This was Nov 7, 24! I asked if he was clean and safe and he said he was. He also said it had been sometime he had been with anyone since his wife passed in 22 and he prefers women straping him. When we met we talked for 20-30 mins and then I went to the restroom to calm my nerves. I came out and he pulled out a bag with sex toys (strap ons) I held each one and they felt dry from what I can remember and looked clean, he said he cleaned them earlier that day. I put a condom on one and used it on myself (anal). While he put on the harness (5-6 mins maybe 10). After I put a condom on the one in the harness and we had sex, me bottoming for 10-20 mins. We stopped and decided to switch. I took the condom off, wiped it down with a towel (nothing on it but lube from what I can tell) and replaced it with another new condom and used it on him for 5 mins tops. Got freaked out made an excuse and left. No semen no saliva nothing other tha the sex toy touched me.  Dec 21, 24 and now on Jan 24, 25 wife and i had sex. On Jan 27 she had tiredness and chest congestion/pain. By the 29 Jan serve body aches, raspy-ish cough, fever and mild sore throat possibly from drainage. I took another test on 30 Jan 25 (83 days) oraquick it was negative. Her fever is gone and she is better everyday except her cough. What is my risk? Is her symptoms ARS?

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions and your implied confidence in our service.  I’ll be glad to comment.  This was a no risk event.  From the sounds of things, your casual partner was cautious and low risk.  More importantly, HIV is not transmitted on dry, cleaned sex toys.  Your use of condoms further eliminated any potential risk.  I would have no concerns whatsoever about this exposure.  Your own test results now provide proof that you were not infected by this encounter.

You can be confident that you did not infect your wife.  I see no reason for continuing concern or for additional testing.  EWH

Good morning. Say I am miss remembering, which my anxiety is probably making me do.  Say he didn't clean them, would your opinion be any different? We definitely used condoms, they looked dry and clean again from what I remember and being a previous health care worker the two oraquick tests I took i did by the books.  One a 63 day one at 83 both negative. Thank you again.

You describe them as dry- as such they would not put you at risk for infection, even in the unlikely circumstance that they had not been cleaned. There is no need for additional testing. Your tests prove, without question, that you were not infected.  It's time to move on.  EWH---

Good morning. I want to thank you all for this site it has helped greatly. I tested again (oraquick) at 93 days and 113 days both negative, just to be outside the window period. I read these as consecutively conclusive due to extremely low to zero risk and consistency of the negative, would you agree?

It is clear I have an anxiety/PTSD issue (worked as a paramedic on the ambulance/ER for 10 years) and i have manifested it into this medical fear. As soon as one of my kids get sick I immediately start spiraling or if the wife gets sick. Do you all recommend any free resources to help with this kind of anxiety? I can't do it with my insurance because the DOD frowns on mental health or atleast until I get closer to retirement.

I'm please to hear of your negative tests and more importantly, that you seem to be accepting the results.

I'm sorry.  We do not have the resources for a referral of this kind.  I would check at a local public health clinic to look for resources.

As you know this completes this thread which will now be closed.  I wish you the best.  EWH
