[Question #12692] Question about the science

This question is honestly just based on science and less of my anxiety like my past questions regarding my chlamydia infection 2022. Im just now questioning things wanted to get ur input. I had had the same partner for 3 years before this and throughout this, unprotected and never got anything. We weren’t exclusive so I had a one night stand with someone else and about 3 weeks after that I had my physical which included a urine test that tested positive for chlamydia. I didn’t have symptoms but was treated and obviously told my main partner at the time. I know the standard is to have your partner automatically treated but I was more unaware at the time so he went to the doc and got a negative test. So obviously he wasn’t treated. Only thing that confuses me is during those 3 weeks that I thought I contracted it, i was seeing him 2 to 3 times a week. I continued seeing him after I was in the clear and obviously haven’t gotten anything since. I always assumed it was from the one night stand, because my usual partner was negative. But now I’m confused how it was possible that my usual partner never got it. Is this weird to you? I guess it doesn’t matter now but I’m confused about the science.

I never knew if it was from the one night stand for sure but I was almost positive because I had never gotten anything from my main partner before and he was negative. I just don’t know how he managed to not get it because we had sex 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks before I knew I was positive. Isn’t this weird? Do you think that could have been a false positive from my part?

Clearly you’re still focused on your past chlamydial infection.  I can’t help but wonder of this intense focus is doing you any good.  Several comments.  You should believe the test results.  Currently available commercially available tests have superb performance characteristics.  The sensitivity of the tests is excellent and falsely positive results are vanishingly rare.

Second.  Transmission of infections is a function of probability statistics.  Most single exposures do not lead to transmission of infection.  For men exposed to and untreated female partners with chlamydia infection acquire infection in about 10-20% of exposures.  OTOH a female exposed to and untreated infected male acquire infection around 40% of the time.  Your partner simply May have been lucky if indeed he was untreated when tested.

Let’s not go further down this rabbit hole.  EWH

I know you are right. I just keep going down the rabbit hole of it possibly lingering in my body or in my GI tract and it’s making me replay certain past moments. I’ve started taking new medicine and it is known to alter the gut microbiome and I’m worried that it’s sitting in my gut and going to reinfect me now 3 years later with these changes. Ive also started taking lactobillicus acidophilus probiotics and am worried about the same thing. This isn’t possible is it? I really need to let go. I keep reading things about it lingering in the body in females. I can’t help but worry all the time.

The antibiotics doxycycline 7 days completely eradicate chlamydia once you get a test of cure? Like there Is no remaining bacteria in the body?

The medication is semaglutide, which I’ve heard can possibly cause yeast infections and BV but I know that your area of expertise is STDs so I don’t know if it’s appropriate to ask anything about this.

Doxycycline is higher effective and if you had a test of cure showing the infection is gone., it’s gone and not “ hiding” somewhere in your gut or elsewhere ( BTW suggesting it may be probably indicates you are searching the internet as part of your compulsion.  Please stop.  The internet is full of misinformation)

Semaglutide is a relatively new medication with many effects.  I know of no data to suggest it has any impact on chlamydial, infection and its response to therapy.

One follow up remaining after which there really should be no need to return regarding your obsess with chlamydial.  EWH

But being on semaglutide doesn’t mean it can bring back any past infection right? I’m not sure what you mean about chlamydial infection and its response to therapy.  And so once you get a test of cure for chlamydia, it is completely eradicated? Have u ever seen an instance where someone had a same chlamydia infection return 3 years later with no sexual activity? I just want to be at peace knowing it’s 100% gone from my body forever. I have never been positive since then but it’s driving me crazy that it can reappear due to changes in the gut or something. So this is absolutely not possible?

Sorry if I sound a bit paranoid.

What you said about chlamydia infection and response to therapy is just meant as an active infection while being on the medicine, correct? It doesn’t have anything to do with past infections from yrs ago?

Changes to the gut microbiome is more so what I’m worried about making chlamydia come back not the semagluride itself.

NO!,!!!!!!!!  There are no credible scientific data to suggest that semaglutide can “bring” back chlamydial infection.  As I said above, if a chlamydial test of cure showing is negative, the infection is gone and will not return unless a person is reinfected by an infected partner.  Effectively treated chlamydial infections do not “return”.

This thread is over and will be closed.  As mentioned above there should be no need to return regarding your.  EWH
