[Question #12776] Follow up on [Question #12772] - Please help me clear this

Hello,
Yesterday I asked a question and after reading it when the thread was closed, it seems to me that it wasn’t completely answered or half answered, with all due respect (english not being my first language).

It is referring to question : '' [Question #12772] Reliability of test '', where I initially asked: Does having prostatitis, or any other STI’S or UTI’S can affect the reliability of HIV test results? And you answered : '' No.  The reliability of HIV tests are NOT changed by the presence of other infections such as STIs or prostatitis.  They are also not changed by any medications you might be taking.  EWH---''

So my question is : is your answer is valid also for UTI ?  (That The reliability of HIV tests -  in my case the HIV COMBO  - are NOT changed by the presence of UTI as well) Since this was part of my question that wasn’t answered (Only STI was mentioned in your answer)

I won’t need a follow up question, I understand I can ask 2 questions in a period of 6 months, dont wan't to be repetitive,  I believe your clear answer will help me get over this thinking.

Welcome back. However, I don't understand. Reading your other question and Dr. Hook's replies, everything you asked was clearly answered. I wonder if there is a language/translation problem? If so, maybe try a different translation program, or perhaps discuss with a colleague or friend with strong English skills.

Dr. Hook's closing answer said "...the presence of UTI, STI or prostatitis would not..." affect your HIV test result. This applies to the combo test and all other HIV tests. There are NO medical conditions of any kind that have any effect on the timing or reliability of any HIV test. None.

There is no official limit on the number or frequency of questions. However, repeated questions on the same topic are not permitted, regardless of the time between questions. Therefore, this must be your last question about UTI, STI, prostatitis, or ANY medical condition and HIV test results.

Hi Dr.
Dr Hook closing answer was in response to the second question I asked '' Does having prostatitis, or any other STI’S or UTI’S can affect the reliability of these follow tests : Chlamydia(urine), Gonorrhea(urine), Hep c, Hep b and syphilis test''  his closing question on this was very clear.

My concern and the reason for this actual thread was regarding my initial question (you can look it up) where Dr Hook first answer was:   The reliability of HIV tests are NOT changed by the presence of other infections such as STIs or prostatitis.  but didn't confirm for UTI as well, for any HIV tests.

It may sound silly, and apologize for my ignorance, but im just trying to educate myself and maybe others who will think about the same question...

Here's a common English idiom to know:  You are splitting hairs. That is, these are trivial differences in wording that did not change the meaning or intent of Dr. Hook's replies. Or mine. YOUR NEGATIVE HIV TEST RESULTS PROVE YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV, NO MATTER WHAT OTHER HEALTH PROBLEM YOU HAVE. Understood?---

Thanks for your message
However, when you don't take time to read well the questions I had, it just makes it look more complicated more than what it is. I am not here to upset you or to repeat questions sir, but only to understand and to have more knowledge on the subject.
Dr HHH, I had 2 main concerns:

1) Does having prostatitis, or any other STI’S or UTI’S can affect the reliability of HIV test results and COMBO HIV TEST? it wasn't answered completely in my opinion and YOU CLARIFIED, THANK YOU - UNDERSTOOD!!

And second (Read carefully) : Does having prostatitis, or any other STI’S or UTI’S can affect the reliability of these follow tests : Chlamydia(urine), Gonorrhea(urine), Hep c, Hep b and syphilis test ?- Dr hook in his CLOSING ANSWER (that you quoted), was in reference to this question (NOT HIV RELATED), he answered and clarified it -  but in your first reply to this thread you wrote that dr Hook answer to this question applies to the combo test and all other HIV tests. - which one is it then? the question was about Chlamydia(urine), Gonorrhea(urine), Hep c, Hep b and syphilis test ? therefore please confirm that sti, and uti doesn't affect the reliability of theses 5 test too.

Instead of loosing patience and writing in all caps as if I were illiterate, I ask you to not judge someone who trust you with your knowledge and experience.

REGARDS

1) Answered by Dr. Hook and by me above. It WAS "answered completely" before your renewed questions.

2) No, these conditions do not affray the reliability of any tests for the conditions you mention; or for any other medical conditions.

I don't understand your question "which one is it then?" The answer clearly applies to ALL the tests you mention. "please confirm that sti, and uti doesn't affect the reliability of theses 5 test":  Confirmed.

That completes the two follow-up comments and replies included with each question and so ends this thread. Please note the forum policy that prohibits repeated questions about the same exposure, symptoms, etc, especially when anxiety driven. This being your second, it will have to be your last on these topics. Repeat questions may be deleted without reply and without refund of the posting fee. This policy is based on compassion, not criticism; it is intended to prevent questions with obvious or previously discussed answers. In addition, such questions have low education value for other forum users, one of our main goals. That you for your understanding.
