[Question #12787] Risk

On 1-17-25 while in a guys trip I had two encounters with two different females. Encounter 1 we performed unprotected oral on each other then proceeded to have condom protected intercourse. Condom intact at the end. Woman said she was clean and didn’t play like that. Later that night. Met another woman at the bar. I performed oral on her briefly and she rubbed my penis on her vagina for a couple minutes. There wasn’t any penetration and I did not finish.
Worried about my encounter I got tested 10 days later for hiv, gon, chlam, hero and Syph. All negative. At 38 days I tested again. And all negative. At 42 days I felt a slight discomfort urinating at the base of my penis but no discharge and no burn. Online doc gave me a 500mg dose of azyth. Followed by daily 250mg for 4 days. Discomfort went away and no symptoms of anything else. Should I test for anything else or do you think I’m good to carry on with my normal partner.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Thank you for your confidence in our services.

You describe very low risk exposures. Your negative test results for gonorrhea and chlamydia at 10 days were conclusive; they didn't need repeating. The blood tests all were conclusive, for all practical purposes, at 38 days. (On rarely occasions, it can take longer -- 6 weeks, 42 days -- for conclusive HIV and syphilils results, but so rarely the chance can be ignored. And anyway, these are exceedingly rare after exposures like yours.)

I am quite confident your symptoms at 42 days were not due to any infection from the sexual exposures you describe. First, no infection causing such symptoms takes 42 day to show up; anything beyond 2 weeks is unrelated to that event. Second, your symptoms are not typical for any infection anyway. They didn't clear up because of the antibiotic; they were not meaningful and were going to go away on their own. (If you had been in my clinic, I certainly would not have prescribed azithromycin.)

You have no infection from the events described. Had I been in your shoes, I would have resumed unprotected sex with my wife long ago. You certainly can safely do that now.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.
